I can’t stop laughing at this- Eric cracking up is the best part

Let's be honest that was a pretty lazy throw.

I saw the Melbourne show last night, it was excellent. The only downside was that it was only an hour due to them “supporting” The Smashing Pumpkins.
Stephen was just a powerhouse, with Three Days blowing my mind. He sounded so good. Eric’s bass was fat and chunky and big and loud and superb. He is a machine.
Josh is an incredible guitar player, and whilst he played the parts better than what I’ve heard Troy do, he didn’t play the solos note-for-note Dave-style. Don’t get me wrong, the songs sounded great, but if you’re like me/us and know all the little bits and pieces, the guitar flourishes (for want of a better word), those were mostly “wrong”. He’s probably 80% there, and let’s face it Perry probably told him to start true to the record but make the solos his own, but close to Dave. Who knows..
Josh’s fit and performance probably varies depending on your point of view. A guy I know who “loves Jane’s” saw them at the Bribie Island show said “he played the songs perfectly”, but then when I went into a bit of detail with him about it, talking about Josh’s playing of the lead bits in Three Days wasn’t note-for-note like Dave has been doing for a while now (the parts in the album version from 6:00 to 6:48, especially the parts from 6:18 to 6:40), he said something like “I didn’t know you were that much of a fan”. (I think he meant that I / we “put the ‘fan’ in fanatic”).
Josh was great, he’s just not Dave, and that’s not a thing to be worried about. He had a great time playing, the other three clearly love him, and love playing with him, and if Dave never played with them again, Josh would slot right in perfectly.
Perry sounded better than he ever has post-Relapse, and the dancers weren’t intrusive. There were no video screens in the venue so maybe that helped with keeping the band and music front & centre.
Great show, annoyed I’m not seeing the other Melbourne show. Oh well.

Nobody ever mentions how Amyl and the Nitrates have been doing as the opening act.
Trip Away
Whores
Been Caught Stealing
Pigs in Zen
Ted, Just Admit It...
Kettle Whistle
Ocean Size
Mountain Song
Jane Says
Three Days
Stop!
I’m sure nobody taped it…
But it's a nice one

Should’ve been doing sets like these 10 years ago
I wonder if this is it for shows this year once they wrap up this weekend. Are they going to truly hunker down and make a record, or play some more this summer? Will Dave actually come around and be all in? Both Troy and Josh will be tied up with Queens and PJ at the same time by August… interesting times ahead
