I wouldn’t read too much into that. It could just be their press guy cobbling together something from the first paragraph of Jane’s Wikipedia page.Hokahey wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 4:46 amIt could mean nothing, but the Bearded Theory website specifically mentions Dave as being in the band.
We are excited to announce the first wave of artists for 2024! Comprised of enigmatic frontman Perry Farrell, guitar hero Dave Navarro, and powerhouse rhythm section drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery, the band are one of the most influential alternative rock bands of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s and will make Bearded Theory their only UK festival performance of 2024.
Dave's Return?

Huh…
Could a great sign? Co could be an intern, who just has the wrong outdated information
But if this is happening in May, I’m not seem too much room for a full-fledged P4P tour
And there’s a porno for Pyros “tour” is going to happen you think it has to happen in January, February or March… and if it’s happening then you think we’d be hearing about it very very soon

I hear you, but it also specifically mentions that it’s their only UK festival performance for next year. So clearly there’s a bit of actual information and writing involved here. Again, may mean nothing, but it’s not generic either.Moschops wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 5:11 amI wouldn’t read too much into that. Also seems to imply some non-festival shows at the end. When was the last time they played their own shows in the UK? Maybe 2014 or ‘16?Hokahey wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 5:56 amI hear you, but it also specifically mentions that it’s their only UK festival performance for next year. Re: Dave's Return?
Yea, Stephen has already said as much on his IG… more dates to be announced soon. Last show was Ritual run-through I think. I’ll def go if dates suit, nostalgia or otherwise.
Re: Dave's Return?
This is great news. I'm definitely in. Bearded Theory festival is an hour in the car for me, so I may well do that if I can get a day ticket. But will definitely do a venue.

Dave has never been out of the band, he's just not touring because of Long Heroin Covid.
And the band won't correct them because they've been doing the bait and switch for awhile now.
1. Announce tour
2. Sell 90% of the tickets you're going to sell
3. Wait till 24 hours before tour is about to start...
4. Announce Dave isn't joining you on tour
Re: Dave's Return?
It’s a pretty wild move for a festival to advertise the OG Janes months in advance when there’s still no clarity on what Dave’s status is. Have to wonder if the band pitched that themselves or if it’s just a shitty ploy to drive ticket sales

Is Josh gonna be free then?
I wanna see them with Josh!!!!!

Re: Dave's Return?
Hard to say- I imagine if PJ has a new album by then he’ll be with them but maybe they’d let him go play with Janes
If Josh can’t do it, Troy wouldn’t be able to either. Looks like Queens has dates at the same time

Obviously, yeah, this is how it actually went down, but I think you might be overly cynical thinking that was always the plan. I got the impression the other guys were waiting and hoping on Dave and sincerely wanted it to work, and maybe Dave himself wasn't sure until late in the day that he wasn't up for it (for whatever reason). Weren't there pictures of flight cases at Dave's place shortly before the tour? It seemed from what I saw on a few shitty youtubes and from what some of you were saying in here that they weren't super well rehearsed with Troy at the start of the tour, suggesting it hadn't been the plan all along and it was all a bit last minute. At this point, Dave's not left the band, so "Jane's Addiction" is Perry, Eric, Dave and Perk. The show's a long time away, sure if Dave isn't fit or makes himself unavailable they will likely play with a sub, but I can only take a positive from the way the line up of the band is still being described as the original guys, with Dave currently "off sick" rather than "is no longer a member" - who knows how it will pan out, but at least the other three* seem to be willing to wait on Dave even if the hope is a thin one. I don't think it's totally fair to criticise that, would we rather they decided to boot Dave and appoint an ongoing replacement (can Chaney play a six string?)?JOEinPHX wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 10:37 amThis is the likely answer.Moschops wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 5:11 amI wouldn’t read too much into that. *Eric's, afaik, been notably silent about Dave, no? And vice versa.. I noted in Dave's announcement he wasn't going to make the tour, he referred to "the original bass player" or something like that, but didn't mention Eric by name, I still think whatever has gone down between the members, the relationship between Dave and Eric gets overlooked as a possible source of fracture.

Re: Dave's Return?
I agree with this. It just seems like a fluid situation. As far as Dave and Eric, there were a couple instances of Dave mentioning/tagging Eric on Instagram in a fond way maybe like a month or two before the announcement. “The original bass player” thing struck me as odd because of that. Seemed like a jarring change.panicparty wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 8:24 amObviously, yeah, this is how it actually went down, but I think you might be overly cynical thinking that was always the plan. Re: Dave's Return?
I've always thought there could be some tension between Dave and Eric. That being said if Eric and Perry can get over themselves, Dave and Eric can surely work it out. They're all getting older, time is limited. I know that's easy for someone as stubborn as me to say, but its the truth. Honestly they're not really under any pressure to say Dave is in or out. Right now he's not there, but if he's ready to go, then he'd be welcomed back is the vibe I get. Maybe we'll get a new 3rd replacement guitarist. Personally I hope its Josh again, or they could do a tour with Josh and Troy. There's no rule that says JA can only be a 4 piece. They had that dude hidden behind the drums years ago playing fucking keyboards.

Nova Rock Fest shared this
However, Janes is fourth on the bill behind Green Day Billy Talent… and Corey Taylor solo
Given that, coupled with the fact that QOTSA is playing Download fest around this time… it has to be Josh

Maybe it's Dan Cleary's time to shine.
"Hey Dan, when you're done tuning that guitar... just go ahead and play the song"

More festival bs.... come on Jane's. Commit to a lineup, a few new songs and a US headline tour.

Re: Dave's Return?
Seven months out, but with Dave currently not fit / able / willing to play, committing to a line up now would mean kicking him out of the band. It seems clear from previous statements that Perry at least wants Dave in the band, and we can safely assume Perk does. Why force the issue now when there's a long time between now and the booked dates and it's possible that Dave may be fit / healthy / willing to participate by the time these dates come round? If Dave wanted out, he's had plenty of opportunity to say so, and he hasn't done that so we have to assume he at least has some desire to still be part of the band if he can.
