Dave's Return?

I noticed Dave's gf posted that she's been clean for 269 days. So that's promising for her, and hopefully for Dave. Not jumping to conclusions that he's coming back anytime soon, but at least good for their own personal well being. Also, the first time I think either of them addressed the obvious issue.

Hard to imagine she’s staying clean and he’s still using. Although it seemed obvious she got on the wagon before he did, assuming he did.

Here’s to hoping that dude and Janes as a whole can get their shit together for one last legacy capping moment. We’ve all been rooting for it for 20+ years.

I like it better than any of the songs you listed. It’s inoffensive. The rest of the album is either embarrassing or unremarkable. Except True Nature. That’s a decent enough song despite the music video nearly killing the band’s legacy all on its own.

I’m inclined to disagree. I went back to strays several months ago, and decided to listen with fresh ears and optimism. What I realized is that any warm feelings I had about it were skewed by my rabid fandom at the time, and I didn’t even love it then. Now? It sounds like old men desperately trying to sound relevant in a new era. Regardless of the bands name. I’d bet TGEA ages better, but I haven’t listened to that since it came out.

TGEA has definitely aged well for me. This is why I’m excited about the new record- they’re not just gonna leave it with those last two. I have to imagine Perry and Eric are bringing out the best in each other finally. It’s exciting to think that we’re getting bass centric songs again and songs that could potentially stretch out like Ted and Three Days

very unpopular take, but I kind of feel like Broken People is such a great tune! To me it's a quintessential Janes 2.0 song. That and Underground are the only TGEA or Strays songs I would want to listen too. To me they sound like Janes Addiction.

Underground is undeniably good. I also like Irresistible Force.

And as far as Janes 2.0 goes, I think Evrrybodys Friend is underrated. Sounds very much like a Janes tune. A B side, but still.

Listening to TGEA now. "I'll Hit You Back" reminds me a lot of something that would have been on a Ken Andrews/Failure album. Same with "Curiosity Kills". Overall, the guitar sound is like way too in the back for my liking on most of these tracks. Not a terrible album, but also nothing I'll go out of my way to listen to most days.

I think Jane’s is 2024 could actually do a version of Irresistible Force live that’s slightly retooled — if Eric played a baseline that would replace the quiet repetitive guitar parts

Dave replaced those main guitar parts with atmospheric stuff around the new baseline

And then keep the big chorus etc

Despite not considering them true Jane's Addiction albums, I don't blindly hate Strays and TGEA. They have have their good tracks and bad tracks...along with overproduction and album artwork that ranges from questionable (TGEA) to awful (Strays).

"The Irresistable Force" always remidned me of Linkin Park.

Dave was smiling and looked happy behind his shades. I think it was recent because I noticed a few gray hairs in Dave's facial hair. Make me feel hopeful.

PJ dates leaked- there is complete overlap with the exception of the first two dates in June. Either they let Josh go play with Janes or he stays with PJ. Not feasible to go back and forth

Honestly, I've interpretted Perk's postings of pics with Dave over the past 1.5 years or so as him trying to reach out to Dave. It could be a veiled "miss you" or a way of begging for Dave to come back into the fold.
