Stephen posted a lot of Eric pics in the lead up to the actual announcement that he was back. Like over a year of doing that. Gives me a little bit of hope that a similar thing is happening here with the Dave posts.

I’m thinking if Dave ISNT touring with the band, and there’s that much overlap with the dates with PJ—I think Josh might do the JA tour?

I doubt money has too much to do with it…

Him performing with Jane’s is more integral to the live performance ( I also suspect it might come with more freedom Jane playing ? ) generally it might be more fun as a musician

If he’s recording/writing with JA make sense to tour with them maybe debut song or two and generally continue to write with Eric?

I think you may be right with this one.

Just out of curiosity, how many years did Dave's Spread/TNO intense drug period last?

But Jane's plays the same 10 songs every night. I wouldn't call that freedom.

with Pearl Jam he gets to play 25-30 songs, which change nightly. It seems to me like it would be more fun to have more variety. :noclue:

I'm wondering what I'd prefer to see between Dave doing the job (as he did for so many years) and a good guitarist happy to let go on songs he loves since he was a kid.
For sure Dave happy to let go, but otherwise... I dunno

Now this is encouraging

The pic is cut off but it’s definitely Dave’s PRS

The ‘guess who’s back’ thing on the tuning peg sure is hopeful.

Sure seems that way.

Dave has to be back. That 🚫 sign sticker is definitely from his guitar. The post literally says “Jane’s Addiction” and “Guess Who’s Back”.

I really hope he is the sole or at least primary guitarist on the album (I’ll tolerate Josh or Troy being a second, complimentary guitar on a track at most). I’d really hate for the real followup to Ritual to result in a “Jane’s Addiction” patchwork of an album where Dave is just featured on a few or half the tracks with these other guys playing just a big of a role; that ain’t Jane’s.

Are we sure to expect a full LP or is a skinny EP still an option ?

I suspect that’s why all of the new music conversation went quiet and why they didn’t debut the other new song as promised. Dave popped back up and they’re making sure he’s contributing. I’m sure the other guys will have some credits or even be on a track or two, but it’ll be Dave as primary. Just my gut.

With these guys, we’ll be lucky if we get two songs out of them.

If Dave only returned under the condition that Chaney is on bass, I’ll be super pissed!

They’ve been working on new music for awhile now. I’m guessing that contributed to porno not getting the full fledged reunion album. I’m betting they have an albums worth of songs, but the brakes got pumped because Dave started coming around and they wanted him involved.

He’s got several months to get his parts done. I’d bet we see new music released by Fall accompanied by a US tour.

I’m sure Josh/Troy will defer to Dave fully as far as recording goes. They know there’s a golden opportunity here to have the original four release new music on their own… exciting times

As long as I hear some new JA 1.0 songs in my lifetime, I'll be happy. I used to worry every fucking time I'd see Perk post something about Dave.

This is great.

I’ll be really surprised if they start from scratch though. If they have been writing for a year or more, so we really see them scraping stuff that Josh helped co-write?

Maybe Josh won’t play on it it ( though that’s doubtful ) but he’ll surely be credited as a co-writer.

I really hope it’s a full album though…pulling together 10 songs shouldn’t be hard

Almost all of Jane’s 1.0 were written and arranged around bass lines. Groove based songs. Dave has always layered guitars on top of pre existing arrangements. One hot minute was the same. Like say.. early PIL or Primus. My guess would be they have pre written songs with vocals that need guitar parts. Eric’s lines have always performed more like rhythm guitar parts anyway

I'd say the likely scenario is that Dave replaces what Josh did in terms of any primary riffs, but they may leave any textural stuff in there if Dave doesn't want to redo that too.

Kind of like TGEA and Sitek.

Sitek wrote a bunch of basslines, and then Chaney came in and replaced them for the album. I could see a similar scenario here.
