So .. now what?

#1 Post by eye » Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:20 pm

Does anyone have a clue what’s next in the Jane’s camp?

More shows?

New songs?

… an album?

and if so, Does any of this include Dave Navarro?

Does anyone know? Do the 3 current members of Jane’s Addiction know?

They claimed they were going to come back and hit the studio pretty quickly. I don't see it involving Dave, but believe the door is open if he gets better (yes, avoiding the obvious there) and wants to return. In the meantime, I wouldn't be surprised if some P4P dates pop up even if its just like at Lollapalooza or something as an aftershow. Then again its JA and we could go 3 years without hearing anything. I'm hopeful that they realize their time is limited nowadays and really get a move on with recording/touring/communicating with their fans.

I imagine they are working on the album- from that podcast in April they sounded pretty determined to finish it by the end of the year.

It’s also looked more positive with Dave lately on social media. If he doesn’t want to do it, at the very least everyone seems to be cool with each other. However… Troy is on tour now and Josh has PJ dates coming up. Perfect opportunity for all 4 to record with no shows for the foreseeable future

"Now What?" should be their next album title if they ever make one... :noclue:

It’s still almost incomprehensible to me that these guys burned through 25 years of opportunity with 2 mediocre albums and a bunch of half- assed tours and yet still maintain some level of interest and respect.

But what’s next? I’m guessing an EP from P4P and Janes and some short tours over the next few years and then that’s it. Like the rest of us, these fuckers got old. Not much time left to do much else.

Eric & Perry said on the Australian podcast that they were hopeful of releasing a song by the end of the year. I'm not getting my hopes up for an album.

I imagine any European shows would need to tie in with the release of new music or the involvement of another '90s alternative band that they could do a double-header with.

And then never debuted Imminent Redemption as promised. But hey, it’s Janes Addiction. Even when they’re getting something right they still don’t really get it right.

I’m glad they didn’t end up playing it- I don’t think either of those songs were fully completed this past spring and maybe still aren’t. I’d rather wait to hear IR when it’s ready

I suppose we can ask Billy Corgan, he seems to have a good friendship with Perry.

This year, Janes and Pornos are not playing al Lolla, any reason behind it?

Pearl Jam is in the studio right now finishing their new album for a Spring 2024 or Summer/Fall 2024 release (depending on whether you ask Stone or Jeff about it) and doing dates in the USA in August/September.

Likely won't see anything international till 2024.

I wonder if he’d quit PJ for Janes.

Doubtful. He's in Ed's solo band, The Earthlings, too. And shows up to play with Ed at his solo shows where Ed performs with no band at all.

He seems firmly in the PJ camp at this point.

When I saw PJ in May, there were points in the show where he took over drums from Matt Cameron, and McCready gave up his guitar to Josh to shred a solo while he ran around the stage taking photos.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was announced as an official member of the band upon the release of the new album.

Yes.

Ed, Stone, Mike, and Klinghoffer adds textural stuff either with guitar or keys

He’s apparently only going to be on a few songs on the new album- hopefully he adds something interesting. I honestly can’t connect to a lot of what they’ve put out

I didn’t realize it’s only like 8 shows they’re doing so he can probably still work with Janes more than I thought

Can’t connect to what, like Strays and that shit? I agree. I am curious about what JK brings though. I like him, I liked TVL more, but JK is good…

Haha, nowhere, that’s why I’m holding my breath until they come out and saying goodbye forever, because I’d die.
