Kind Heaven in London this September

#1 Post by dannyboy » Wed Jun 21, 2023 2:32 am

This was announced yesterday.

Chris used to be MD as well as bass player for Kind Heaven. There’s no mention on his insta. I wonder who’ll be playing bass.

I’d really like to go. I bet it’s good fun!

I was hoping Perry was done with this but I guess not.

I know Perry and Eric are friends now but no way he plays this show.

They did a KS show last December. Idk who was on bass. Might’ve just been backing tracks, but Chris definitely wasn’t there.

Chris Cheney.

But this is always the right answer otherwise.

I went to the KH thing at the little Belasco room place, last year, and it was some other bass player. Don’t worry who?

Just being facetious. Chris Chaney is the most generic as fuck session guy…with the “personality” to match. He’s beige pants or plain yogurt.

Lets be fair this is who/what Perry wanted as a bass player ,.
Bass players with personality were not part of the plan

Chris did what he was paid to do

Oh, I absolutely lay a lot of blame at Perry’s feet. While it wouldn’t have been EXACTLY Jane’s 1.0, there were a few worthy, potential successors to Eric. I would’ve been content with Martyn continuing on in “Jane’s Addiction” from the early 00s onward (with decent album producers).

I’m a fan of Martyn too. I think he’s a great bass player. Aesthetically he worked and has stage presence and his own vibe. But, he just didn’t have that hard hitting thundering attack and sound.

Still .. I preferred him to any of the other replacements. Flea had all the energy but was just horrible sounding.. all wrong imo

As odd as it sounds, the most they’ve ever sounded like Jane’s, since the original run, was the last couple of times I saw them, once with Troy, then Josh. I absolutely know No Dave, blah blah blah, but in my mind, the other reunions are a bit insignificant now, I don’t know?

I do think Martyn was the best out of all of them though, bass wise.
