The Nothing’s Shocking guitar story and other guitars

#1 Post by dharma bum » Sat Jul 01, 2023 1:51 am

Funny thing I realized. It says in this 2019 article that Dave reunited with his guitar after 28 years and that he pawned the guitar in 1991.

Yet in this article from 1997 (coincidentally also Guitar World) he’s posing with the very same instrument, i.e. it’s not the first time he’s been reunited with the guitar. Perhaps it’s been pawned on and off?

Yes, Dharma bum needs to get a life etc. but makes for a funny little twist in the story of the NS guitar.

Also, here is is Modulus from 1996. Ended up in someones private collection in Luxembourg. There’s a related video on youtube if you search for it.

Wonder if he still has the Gibson LP Custom his dad got him in the 80s? I believe he played this guitar at his last show in Japan with the RHCP. Funny choice since he played strat based guitars for most of the RHCP years. I also remember seeing a warm-up video from the relapse tour with him playing a Gibson. Notice the modified bridge and bridge humbucker. Might be a DiMarzio super distortion. Pete had one too on his black LP.
