Is 'Absurd' a 'Hypersonic' rip-off?

#1 Post by elbuitre » Thu Jul 06, 2023 4:18 am

This might have been discussed at the time but has anyone else noticed how similar the GNR track is to Hypersonic?

I don’t hear the similarities per se, but your question and this song (and hypersonic) speaks to the limits of rock when artists aren’t at their creative best.

I know this song has been around at least since 2001 (I think it was originally called Silkworms), so I'm not sure if it's a ripoff.

Just to put things in perspective, there was 15 years between The Spaghetti Incident?! and Chinese Democracy. It has now been 15 years since Chinese Democracy was as released. :yikes:

Funny, the reunited “Guns N Roses” has been saying for years now they are working on new music.

So weird to me that these dudes became millionaires by just getting in the garage and jamming, and somehow can't figure out how to write a new record doing exactly that in present day.

That goes for Jane's Addiction too. If Perry is bringing finished songs in from his laptop, the new album is going to suck.

JUST. FUCKING. PLAY.

They’ve already done that to a degree with True Love- in all fairness I’m pretty sure that bassline was intended to be for Janes in the first place so it gets a pass

They both sound like generic rock songs. Don't hear any similarities though.

I honestly hope Guns don't try to record a new album.

The two singles they've put out recently sound like shit and Axl's voice is shot. They should call it quits, it's embarrassing

Agreed. From what I've heard, the majority of Axl's vocal layers are from the 1998-2002 range. I think that's probably a big part of why they're trying to rework all of the unreleased Chinese Democracy material first.
