I remember years and years ago a Surfing Magazine article about the journalist visiting Perry (and maybe Pete?) in Bali or wherever they were and participating in this song in some capacity. I remember at the time the song being described as kind of manic, or with more energy than what I'm hearing in the snippet. Absolutly crazy how long it's taken to see the light of day (or to be properly recorded), and while we don't get a hint of any vocals here, it does sound beautiful, and I'm excited to hear it.

They performed it at Lolla in 2005. Plenty of audio out there.

The chorus is definitely more manic than the verses.

I just talked to Pete. He’s dealing with some personal things, as is the band, that he doesn’t want shared. But it’s a lot. That said, Pete is super excited for the music and believes it’s been done in a pure way. You know how adamant he is about doing things the right way. Tour will be in February and March.

He’s super, super excited about it all but worried about people being mad in the meantime. I reassured him it’s just whiney internet stuff and that once it gets going most everyone will be happy again. He wants to do an ANR circle jam gig. I told him we’ll plan it once the dates are out.

Lots more to be shared soon. And it’s all very interesting.

I am 99% sure there will be a tour based on my conversation with him. It sounds like most of it is already mapped out and they have some plans to make this successful.

Call me crazy, but I can’t stop listening to this. It’s like a time warp to when these guys were just musical gods to me. When those songs were soundtracking some of the most important years and moments in my life. Total fucking nostalgia bomb. I also feel like this one small snippet sounds better than anything attached to Perry’s name since 96-97. It’s fucking lush and dreamy and trippy and just everything that made GGU and Kettle Whistle so beautiful. I’m really excited. And I think Pete made sure this was true to the spirit of the band. I think they might have nailed it.
