Freese filled in for Claude Coleman jr when he was injured and played a bunch of shows and recorded an album with Ween. He was spectacular.

Re: P4P FAREWELL Tour Dates.....
Hammerstein was always going to be a flop. Way too big. They could move it upstairs to Manhattan Center Ballroom in the same building but that place sucks except for tv shoots and such.
By the way JA did play the garden on Jubilee. But this is P4P and 20+ years later. Can’t imagine what live nation was thinking. Tickets are largely unsold at the Capitol also.

Not a great sign

Yeah Hammerstein is so huge. Even shitty Terminal 5 is a better size.
Jane’s by themselves haven’t played anything the size of Hammerstein since Relapse?
If Boston changed venues — I won’t be surprised if NYC gif gets a venue change
Edit: looking at other venues in NYC that day — not seeing anything with an opening.
I wonder how poorly the show is selling

Re: P4P FAREWELL Tour Dates.....
I just got back from Omaha. It was a fantastic show.
They opened with Good Gods, played basically the same set list as Denver (according to set list.fm) in mostly the same order, including Little Me which I was hoping for. Obviously the band slayed but what I loved was the fun they seemed to be having together, the jamming out of certain parts of songs, Pete playing with a wine bottle, and the keyboard and Etty added and didn’t distract or detract. It was just fun and dare I say cool to watch Perry singing some of the high parts with Etty. Perk was on fire as always, and Watt’s bass rocked. The venue was new and nice as well.
Hoka, hope to see you in Chicago. I recommend everyone go and see these songs one last time if you are on the fence about it.

Re: P4P FAREWELL Tour Dates.....
Did anyone rip video or audio from the Belasco stream? I may be tripping but i think that livestream they did last year I ripped the audio and tracked it and put it in a dropbox and made it available here. I’d do the same if i had a video rip from belasco.
Been listening to various tracks today. First and foremost there’s no way I’m missing this show. love these songs and this band. Obviously it’s somewhat up in the air what condition perry will be in but except for the mumbles from night one he seems happy to be there singing these songs. Considering how much i love the catalogue and how great pete perk and watt are playing them, I’m definitely there. Just had surgery so i may try to get a seat. But I should be okay on the floor. Almost got my head kicked off in the pit at Roseland in 94. Don’t expect that here.
Second, has perry done much dancing? The songs I’ve watched he’s pretty stationary. Chronic pain is a bitch.
Finally how long is the show?

To be honest, no UK shows pretty much killed my interest in the tour. Given the relatively poor sales, I can understand not touring wider, but it’s still made it feel like a non-event. Shame, as my love for PFP isn’t too far behind that for Jane’s, but is what it is.

Pete's playing has taken a quantum leap since the early days when these albums first came out. The extended solos and new parts have added dimensions which allow me to connect with the material in a new way. Seriously awesome stuff and I hope his live playing can continue to be showcased in one way or another.

Re: P4P FAREWELL Tour Dates.....
I had a lot of fun in Chicago last night, but with mixed emotions.
I have seen Jane's three times (Relapse, Strays, Great Escape Artist tours) but this is the first time I've been to see Porno.
The band was fantastic...Pete, Mike, Perk were just tight and the shifts between driving tempo shifting to mellow and back (the storm to the calm to the storm) that defines Porno (for me) was incredible to see/feel in my chest live. The jamming on some of the songs to add new life to these songs was wonderful, I had a big grin on my face. I have a new appreciation for Pete having finally seen him live. What a talent, and you could feel the joy.
Perry seemed so....frail. Both when singing, and in his short rambling monologues. "This is the generation that is going to change things...right?" I looked at the crowd of 50 yr old middle class dudes and I could feel us all embarrassed by the detached optimism. Our generation already failed bro. I saw Leonard Cohen in his last tour when the dude was in his late 70's and he had 10x the energy and presence that Perry can muster today (and played 3x as long)... no encore dude? Really?
I don't think I'll need to see Perry live again. But the chance to hear Good Gods, Sadness, and Tahitian Moon live was worth the cost of admission alone. It felt like a goodbye, at least to me. I did feel a little emotional with all of this spinning in m head while hearing these sacred tunes.
Really glad I went, it was a good farewell for me, regardless of whether or not they try to dust this off again.
What did you think Hoka?

Re: P4P FAREWELL Tour Dates.....
Where to begin, and what can I say that hasn’t been said? The band themselves were the best they’ve ever been. And my god, the extended jams and improvs??? With Perk, Pete, and fucking Watt? Those three pounding out new twists amidst these incredible songs was blowing my mind. They all look like they’re having the time of their lives.
Perry was seemingly somewhere else mentally. I’m worried for him. However, his being somewhere else brought a sense of the quieter, weirder, odd little movements on stage Perry back. I don’t love not seeing him smile a lot, but Porno was a darker band than I think people consider , and they felt like that band. Even if Perry’s voice was gone at times.
if you get a chance to go, go. I would be shocked if anyone regretted it, but I suppose that would depend on Perry on any given night. But even if just a watch, perk, Watt, and Pete play, it is worth every penny.
I was fortunate enough to get to hang with Pete, backstage a little bit after the show. I also met one of Perks former drum techs that was there to hang out. He said Perk has been stone cold sober for a few years now, and doesn’t even drink caffeine. But is more hyper than ever. That was on display backstage. He was walking around and cracking jokes and having a lot of fun.
I was one of a decent number of guests that Peter was hosting. I should’ve known. I can’t imagine there’s very many people on the planet that he doesn’t consider a friend.
He said that the band cant agree on the artwork for the new single, which is why it keeps getting pushed back. Now that they are on the road Perry has no time to worry about the art so the management is sending it and they don’t like what they’re being sent.
I could listen to Pete tell stories about Watt 10 hours a day every day. They elicit genuine belly laughs. Pete described him as an old sea pirate. Says Mike will not let him sleep. Ever. He said he’s asleep for a few hours, and then Watt starts yelling at him and shaking him and demanding he go get his guitar and practice with him. He also says he wakes up sometimes to Watt reading him books out loud about John Coltrane. Their relationship is so funny and so heartwarming to hear about. Watt comes across as almost mean in these stories, but you can tell how much Peter loves him and how everything Mike does is out of love.
Perry was very much off by himself, and not interacting with very many people that I could see. He was very quiet and demure. I’m not sure I’ve ever really seen him like this before.
The venue was absolutely incredible. Highly, highly recommended. Beautiful space and the sound was crystal clear.
That’s about all I can think of right now.
But if this is the last time Porno for Pyros ever tours, they went out with a bang, and you’ll be sorry you missed it. At times it was really hitting me that I was actually seeing this band again and that they actually sounded that damn good.

Oh, I asked him about the absence of hard charger. He said there were a number of songs he wishes that they were playing but he only gets 25% vote basically.

I'd have done anything to hear hard charger....especially the way the band was playing last night. I'd have traded the two new songs + the Stooges cover...sad I'll never hear that one live, that + Good Gods / Urge were the two I hoped to hear most.

Damn now I’m pumped for the show on Saturday.
Did he mention if additional songs were recorded?
