Something seems different...EA forgiveness, PFP tour losing money, JA with something coming up....he's been awful, but he's been real for the first time in a long time. Thx

I’m pretty sure this is the only show that had a video backdrop. Everything else was the tarp with the logo. That’s really cool and I’m jealous.

Bensalem was the most bizarre concert I've ever been to... in the best way.

Venue was a small ballroom. They went on at 8:15 which really surprised me. Was glad we decided to walk in at 8 instead of 9. It was awesome to not have to sit through an opening band.

They casually came on stage and opened with GGU. After the song, there was no crowd hum - just applause and then it got very quiet. Perry immediately acknowledged the bizarre setting for the show (a makeshift concert venue in a random casino outside of the city). "So.. you guys come here often?". Everyone got a good laugh out of that. From that point on, Perry literally had a conversation with people in the crowd after EVERY song and it was pretty fucking hilarious. To the point that the band and Etty were laughing and perplexed.

As the show went on, it really felt like the band and the audience were connecting in a way I haven't really experienced before - it was way more like a really intimate performance instead of a proper concert. There were no barricades or security in front of the stage and people would just walk up to get fist pumps from Perry and say things to the band. One guy got out of seat, casually walked up in front of Watt, and yelled "Mike Fucking Watt", which the band got a kick out of.

As far as the band and performance - they were great. It started off good, and then they kept feeding off the crowd and each other. The intensity just seemed to ramp up every song. Cursed Male and I Got a Right in particular had crazy energy.

Best Perry rant of the night was about how male fish try to protect their fish wives by jumping out of the water to distract fisherman. I think it segued into something about strippers that made Etty comment something into the mic. She and the keyboard player looked at each other and rolled their eyes several times lol.

Also a strange moment in the show where Stephen seemed to get mad at Dan after a song. Not sure what that was about.

All in all - one for the books. Extremely glad to have experienced that.

After a few of Perry’s monologues there would be silence and then Perry would go “anyway…” everyone laughed really hard at that. He also shouted out Sixers/Embiid lol.

Everyone, including Perry sounded great. Really cool to see Watt in person. Pete shredded per usual. Stephen seemed worried they were going over their allotted set time and counted in songs while Perry was talking. Thick Of It All was a cool surprise.

At one point some dude literally had his elbows on the stage filming a majority of the show. Security did not care at all lol

Caught the Silver Spring gig last night.
Seems like they're firing on all cylinders. Jamming songs out. Having fun. Too bad they're not streaming one of the last shows too.

Thick Of It All made its 2nd appearance:

I was honestly surprised how tight they were as a band and how much fun they were having. This is not a band that should have been sidelined this long.

It’s a damn shame they weren’t doing this all along. And if Porno wasn’t enough of a draw, they should have been mixing them in with Janes tours or something.

At bare minimum, Perry should have included Pete in anything Dave wasn’t doing. Including the last Janes tour. I seem to remember catching shit for that suggestion. But Pete is a one of best guitar players on the planet, a huge Janes fan, and cares more about legacy than anyone in either band. He’d have ensured those songs were given the proper respect more than anyone and played them better than anyone.

It’s fairly ridiculous that he’s not a wealthy, highly respected and well known guitar player.

This is how I would love to have seen them. Pre-fame artistic/intimate display

I really feel like if Dave isn’t ready and Josh has to stick with PJ, Pete is the only logical option to fill in for the euro tour. Watching him solo at the show, he would kill it- especially on three days

I would love to see it, but it seems to me that Pete has carved out his sound and though he flirts in different genres, it is always distinctively Pete. I've never seen him lean into a "cover" mentality...to his credit

Great, I'd love to hear it. Heard the Private Parts MS, but that was really a JA and PFP (and RHCP) mix.

I always thought he'd be a great Froosh replacement. I ran it by him before it was known when Froosh left prior to JK. He said he'd text Flea, but I doubt he did. Really, everything from MM to By The Way especially (though I think he'd bring a great perspective to The Getaway and IWY) is something he could kill it on....plus bringing his own sensibilities to the writing process over there.

Pete would KILL it in JA. Martyn has already been in the band and wasn’t Watt floated around for playing on the strays tour early on? It would be so natural for him to step in.

And SR him playing in RHCP would have been really interesting to see. I think they decided on Josh immediately and didn’t entertain anyone else (makes sense since Josh was part of the extended family).

Just back from the Boston show, and it was a great one - just really good for the soul to hear these songs live again and for the crowd to show appreciation to Pete, Perk, Perry, and Watt, which seemed to be reciprocated.

I was right near the rail in front of Pete, and from that vantage point the crowd was really into the show, and the band was too. Similar setlist to other shows (Orgasm will always be a great opener), but the band was super tight and the extended solos/additions to several songs were great. Perry’s voice sounded strong and well-mixed, with some solid short rants, but not too meandering - he definitely seemed on tonight, which was great.

Just a great show all around, and it makes me wonder what would have happened had they kept going after GGU - I’d love to have those years back and see where they would have gone, especially with Watt. Much like both Perk and Pete, he was extremely locked in and just seemed so happy to be up there playing.

Hoping there will be more from them after the final few dates, as that was pretty perfect for a Tuesday night show. Thankfully, there weren’t any dancers that could catch on fire, which happened at the ENIT Festival one of their last times around in this area. Hoping it won’t be another 27 or 28 years before they’re around here again!

Hard Charger is the only song that I would have LOVED to have heard in Chicago (never heard live) ... it's one of my favorites by them, by a mile.

BUT... saying that, I'm kind of 'meh' on the album version... but that Private Parts Hard Charger into Mountain song gives me CHILLS...and I know that Perry can't deliver like that now (even if the band can) so maybe it's for the best?

Speaking of Mountain song, too, I'm impressed that they didn't cave to pressure to throw in a Jane's song or two. There were some idiots in our crowd who called for Jane's songs once or twice....I'm glad they didn't cave. Kept it pure.

But to circle back, if they could have delivered a Private Parts level HC => MS I'd have WET MY PANTS.

I actually like the “remix” version on Rev the best BECAUSE it’s basically a studio version of the performance you’re talking about. Same key and arrangement.

I hear you, but the energy of that live version....it was like a carnival...with the P4P+JA double barrel...I don't know if I've ever heard them sound better. (For me) the apex of the power they could wield, which then transmitted into Relapse (which I am so happy to have seen) and then it all just started to slowly bleed out... :wiggle:
