I've often wondered how Pete would be on JA songs. The thoughts that come to mind are mixed.
But P4P has covered Janes.
Great, I'd love to hear it. Heard the Private Parts MS, but that was really a JA and PFP (and RHCP) mix.
Hard Charger is the only song that I would have LOVED to have heard in Chicago (never heard live) ... it's one of my favorites by them, by a mile.

BUT... saying that, I'm kind of 'meh' on the album version... but that Private Parts Hard Charger into Mountain song gives me CHILLS...and I know that Perry can't deliver like that now (even if the band can) so maybe it's for the best?

Speaking of Mountain song, too, I'm impressed that they didn't cave to pressure to throw in a Jane's song or two. There were some idiots in our crowd who called for Jane's songs once or twice....I'm glad they didn't cave. Kept it pure.

But to circle back, if they could have delivered a Private Parts level HC => MS I'd have WET MY PANTS.

I actually like the “remix” version on Rev the best BECAUSE it’s basically a studio version of the performance you’re talking about. Same key and arrangement.
I hear you, but the energy of that live version....it was like a carnival...with the P4P+JA double barrel...I don't know if I've ever heard them sound better. (For me) the apex of the power they could wield, which then transmitted into Relapse (which I am so happy to have seen) and then it all just started to slowly bleed out... :wiggle:
oh no doubt the live version is king. just if I had to choose between the studio versions.

There were a lot of classic era Jane’s shows on YouTube that got taken down. I found myself listening to those more than the albums at one point.

3 shows left!

I've been enjoying reading everyone's show reviews, thoughts, comments and listening to recordings. It's part of the build up to the actual show...for me anyway.

I’ve known some of y’all for decades on the different forums. It’s been a privilege and a very entertaining ride being part of this tribe. Seeing them tonite and I’m so grateful to be as psyched as I am, thanks to reading the words and watching the clips from you folks. Mike Fucking Watt. Perk. Happy Pete. And our party president. Thanks for this thread. Can’t wait to dig out a tee shirt I bought at Roseland in 1993.
Seriously, this feels special and the old timers here - you know who you are - have helped make it so. Bringing my kid Joe, a total and complete music freak gifted jazz bass player who plays in a death metal band and whose favorite album is NS. This is my first time at a show in a while. Haven’t had a drink or a smoke in a few months. I just finished a couple of months of health nonsense but Joe’s dad don’t have cancer anymore.
I have this community to thank for a lot of laughs over the years and for how much anticipation I have for tonite. Music is the best.

Have fun Tubro, music is the best (FZ).

Boston was fun, Great energy by the band, loved the setlist, got to meet and chat with Pete. Everyone talks about how humble and kind he is. It's all true. What a thoughtful dude. Talked about his set up, pedalboard, amps. He fucking killed it during the show, the extended solos/jams were awesome. So glad I went. Tempted to go to NYC Friday.

Who knew P4P could bring the board together in unity! Happy everyone has been enjoying the recent shows. Hope for the future! I've been trying to avoid watching clips so it's fresh when I go. Friday and Sunday night shows for me. Bring the Mood!

Yes  back in the day the second coming of P4P could have brought peace to the Great Jane's Board Wars of days past...instead we got Satellite Party and everything in the world went to hell. :noclue:

The Panic Channel/Satellite Party wars circa 2005 started the schism in American Life that exists today!

I think tonite is it for me. They were simply spectacular. I’ll have more later. The regulars around here have covered it well. What a spiritually affirming show about what made us love JA and P4P and PF in the first place. Whatever any of us ever thought about the genius and joy of Pete and perk on full display. Perry hasn’t been exactly linear in his career brilliance but he’s Perry fucking Farrell and he’s written some amazing songs and at his best been a legendary performer. Both things on display tonite. Watt is Watt. What a privilege to be in his presense.

As is often the case when playing in these parts, Perry spent the night celebrating his love for New York. Bman the part I wish you’d been here for was when he saw a guy right behind me (I ended up just behind the folks on the rail dead center) with a Mets cap during one of his New York rants and went on for a minute about his love for the Mets jets and Knicks.

Just simply a great night with my kid.

What happened in the beginning of the set? Setlist fm says they started playing pets, played it partially, but then finished the show with it?

Enjoy everyone! If you see someone under 35 it’s me lol I remember when I was 16 and on these boards. Time flies
