Is this a new studio version? Or an unreleased studio version from back in the day?
Either way, sounds divine. I remember hearing the live version on the Sadness single digipak (yeah boi, remember those??) Just phenomenal..
Yep, that digipack was how I first heard it. Been in love with the song for those 30 years… it’s magical and sums up the PFP vibe perfectly for me. So gutted they’re not coming to the UK.

I thought it was going to be a live bootleg but it’s just the studio version?

Pete’s Dad feels like a perfect barometer for whether or not someone “gets” P4P. I’ve always loved this song.

I’d really love physical versions of this stuff. Hoping they do a vinyl EP of the new stuff.
I’ve loved this song since the Sadness single.

Also
Now that I’m in a P4P hole:
I have
Freeway
Orgasm
Dogs Rule The Night
Meija
100 Ways
Dominator
Tonight
Bali Eyes
As “demos” but most of these sound like a work tape or early jam sessions ( especially the GHU stuff )
Am I missing any other demos that are floating out there?
Wasn’t there an instrumental ?

Did anyone else hear "Pete's Dad" on the radio back in the day? 91X in San Diego played it a handful of times in December '93. I still have a taped recording from when it was on the "Top 9 at 9" nightly countdown. Took me years to finally track down the promo CD single.

There's an early version of "Blood Rag" that was bootlegged along with the other 2 listed 1st LP tracks on the Suck On This silver.
Pretty sure the instrumental ("Studio Trac" on A Priori) turned out to be a different band thrown onto the end of another silver boot.
There's also an instrumental demo of "Freeway" (called "Take a Turn").

I don't remember hearing it on 91X, but I saw them perform it at the acoustic Xmas show in San Diego.
Prior to that, I remember calling in once while at work and Perkins was in the studio. Chatted briefly over the air, made mention of the next time they played in San Diego, it was going to be an intervention, etc. Perkins got a laugh out of that, and the DJ quickly moved on.

Ha, cool. I'll bet the label sent that promo CD to stations that were having a big holiday concert where P4P was scheduled to perform (only SF, LA, and SD in '93). They did it again in '95 with the "remix" promo CD (when they played 4 holiday-themed radio-sponsored events [Deck The Hall Ball, WHFS Holiday Nut Cracker, Q101 Twisted Christmas, and KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas]).

Nah they sent that thing EVERYWHERE not just a few radio stations...in the 90s I worked at the Brooklyn College Radio station and got really excited to see we had a few of them

I got the cassette single of this while in line for the American Legion Hall show in LA in 96. Someone was handing them out.

I love the violin on this track I'm really hoping that there is another album and they hit the fests if they're really bowing out with this tour as I would pay more for a proper P4P show these days especially with the GGU vibe.

Could you somehow share those songs that you have, Diabolik?

Aside from the show which sourced the CD single, was this song played much or at all?

I like the violins, etc. but the vocals are a big step down from the live/raw version from the Little Sadness single. My favorite part of that song is the build up to "MIRACLE" that climbs and climbs and Perry just can't climb. I'll stick with the older version.

They played it at the 3 holiday festivals they did in '93.
12/10/1993 - San Francisco, CA - Exhibition Center (there's a recording off the radio)
12/12/1993 - Universal City, CA - KROQ Acoustic Christmas, Universal Amphitheater (source of b-side)
12/13/1993 - San Diego, CA - Civic Theatre (no recording, but Pete's Dad played, confirmed here on the board)
Then they did 4 more holiday concerts in '95, dusting off the song at least once.
12/02/1995 - Seattle, WA - Mercer Arena (? - no recording/unknown setlist)
12/07/1995 - Fairfax, VA - Patriot Center (audience video, Pete's Dad played)
12/08/1995 - Rosemont, IL - Rosemont Theatre (? - no recording/unknown setlist)
12/17/1995 - Universal City, CA - Universal Amphitheatre (not played? radio broadcast recording does not include Pete's Dad)
They definitely didn't play Pete's Dad at this show. (I was at this one and the 93 KROQ Acoustic Xmas)...but this 95 one was the first time that they played Mountain Song (or any Jane's tune) - at least in my experience having gone to all of their LA appearances back then.

Heard Agua today on my local radio station. It's a good song. Very much like Mend imo. I like it but don't need to play it too often
