Songs Off TGEA You Like Better Than The Older Material?

I know, I know...this will cause anguish for some people on here, but I think it would be a fun way to see what tracks people really like and which ones they never really cared for on older albums. There will probably be...a lot...of people who say "none" and that's fine. Might be some interesting debate over this.

I'll start:

I like Underground more than I like Of Course. Never really cared for Of Course, although I get the message and appreciate it. Just don't like the middle eastern sounding music. Not my thing. I mentioned this yesterday, I think.

2. Curiosity Kills
3. I'll Hit You Back
4. Twisted Tales

over:

1. Pigs in Zen
2. Idiots Rule
3. Slow Divers
4. Mountain Song (there... I said it, I just don't feel any attachment to this one)

Ritual's songs are pretty untouchable though, which is no slight against TGEA's songs that they don't hit those peaks.

Old material? Like pre-Strays?

There's absolutely nothing from TGEA that comes close to trumping anything off the 3 original albums imo. Best I can come up with is comparing my least-favorite pre-Strays throwaway track "So What" with my favorite track off TGEA which is "Underground." And that's a really tough call.

I like a few of the songs on here but nothing stands up to the first 3 records. They made a modern record and it sounds like they tried and I like that but this compared to that would just open up a whole can of "fucking seriously?"

Listen to NS front to back then TGEA then RDLH and you can then decide.

Yeah it probably is to be honest (Pigs fucking rules for one) but there's also quite a few people on here who are starting to conjour up images of the guy that screamed "Judas" at Dylan for plugging in. That guy wanted Dylan to keep writing the same old songs. I, for one, don't want to hear Janes repeat themselves and i respect them enough to accept that they don't want to either. Yes, i absolutely worship XXX, NS and RDLH but it does not mean for one second that i can't enjoy the new record... it also doesn't mean that i'm less of a fan because i think Underground into ETTL into Curiosity Kills kicks ass.

I think my favorite songs off of TGEA are better than my least favorite old ones, I tend to dislike some of the old ones that get a little too funk. But in no way are any of them better than Three Days or Ted Just Admit It.

I don't have many songs that i really dislike..i really hate Superhero, do not like Of course,...but normally if i put JA cd's on i don't skip songs except for the ones mentioned.
I can't compare the old and the new stuff, it is too different.....

This is how I feel. I think if after 20 years if they were still trying to emulate Janes 1.0 that would have been a disaster. This sound is totally different, and it suits them as an 'older' band.

And what I was thinking, if you mix the best songs from Strays, and the best songs from TGEA, you'd get a pretty solid Jane's Addiction album.

When strays came out everybody missed the psychedelics and the layered guitars, and with TGEA everybody misses the balls to the wall rock, so:

1. True Nature
2. Underground
3. End To The Lies
4. Just Because
5. Irrestistible Force
6. Price I Pay
7. Suffer Some
8. Words Right Out Of My Mouth
9. Strays

Something like that.

I would more often listen to that than any of the two albums seperately
