JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
A "Perkins family emergency"
First Hawaii, now this.
I feel bad for them, they can't even play half of the 5 shows they actually booked this year.

Re: JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
if anyone was going to go, The Joy Formidable and The Naked & Famous are still playing the show without Jane's, and it's now a free show.
Both bands are amazing, and highly worth seeing.
I so wish i was in Las Vegas right now.

The Joy Formidable are awesome. Huge sounding neo-shoegaze with strong pop hooks (and noise). The Naked & Famous are OK. The single is catchy as hell, but they are likely a one-or-two trick pony.Six7Six7 wrote:if anyone was going to go, The Joy Formidable and The Naked & Famous are still playing the show without Jane's, and it's now a free show.

Not a one-or-two trick pony at all. The album is pretty awesome from start to finish, it's got poppy songs like Young Bloody and Punching in a dream, and songs that even sound like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails. Those guys are all over the place stylistically and it's amazing.CaseyContrarian wrote:The Joy Formidable are awesome. Huge sounding neo-shoegaze with strong pop hooks (and noise). Hmm. I'll listen again. Forgive my natural suspicion of any new band that gets airplay on consolidated commercial radio.
Re: JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
Oh I am the same way. I got lucky that my first experience with them was a youtube video suggested by Danny Lohner (formerly) from NIN.CaseyContrarian wrote:Hmm. I'll listen again. Forgive my natural suspicion of any new band that gets airplay on consolidated commercial radio.
It wasn't till after I had the album that i noticed they were blowing up on radio. Good for them though, they are actually pretty interesting. It's not all bubblegum, in fact they put out 2 EPs prior to the album that were pretty much just garage rock.
Re: JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
Here's their newest video. Even if you don't like the song (i do), it's got boobs...
Re: JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
TNAF are a great band. There's indeed more to them than Young Blood (even though that's a great song). Saw them live earlier this year and the really deliver. Really curious what the future will bring for this band. Although I don't entirely agree, one review of their album said that Trent Reznor wished his new project How To Destroy Angels sounded like thisSix7Six7 wrote:Not a one-or-two trick pony at all. Dave is the only one who doesn't (that he knows of! zing!)
Re: JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
My info came from Eric's wife in a conversation during NiNJA in 2009. Maybe Perk has had a kid sinceSix7Six7 wrote:Nope. Anyway, all the best for the Perk and his family.
Re: JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
Perkins had a son about a year ago.
I'm thinking maybe something happened with one of his parents??
I hope everything is ok

Re: JA had to cancel 12/7 Jane's show
The radio station issued a statement saying "Our hearts and minds go out to Jane's Addiction band members and their families during this difficult time."
Doesn't sound good.
And I guess Dave Tweeted it's a Perkins family emergency?
Hope it's nothing too serious, especially if Perk does indeed have a little one now.

The one positive is that I'm intrigued Perkins knows Tony Franklin. I wonder if they've collaborated on anything. I Love Franklin's playing especially when he was in The Firm with Jimmy Page and later with guitarist John Sykes in Blue Murder.

That fretless stuff with The Firm always bugged me. But I am still very sorry to hear about Stephen's dad.Pandemonium wrote:That sucks big time.ragdoll wrote::(FretlessMonster Tony Franklin
