Has anyone else finished up Season 1 of Sandman on Netflix?

It probably doesn't hurt how much I love the original Gaiman materials, but I was pretty damn happy with how it's turned out so far.

I've been enjoying Sprung...funny.

A bit of Been Caught Stealing was used in episode 7

I watched UnCut Gems (2019) a couple of days ago. Woah, what a film! I can't believe I'd not heard of it before. Very impressive.

Unlike NOPE which was just utter bollocks.

Watched the first two episodes of Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities anthology show on Netflix. Del Toro hosts the show like Rod Serling/Alfred Hitchcock and at least so far, the show seems to center on people wanting or finding certain objects with bad results. Pros include beautiful, dark but rich photography and some decent horror/monster stuff. Cons include at least the first episode was slow and seemed to have a rushed ending. Second episode was ok but again, too much build-up for too little pay-off. Still, I'll watch anything Del Toro is associated with so there's that.

The first episode of Season 2 of The White Lotus was great! This time they're in Sicily. :thumb:

I really disliked S1 but made it through the whole thing.

I did like the first episode so I hope I like this season. :thumb:

I really like the cast of Season 2. The writing seems sharper and darker and funnier! The first episode had some laugh out loud lines and zingers. The interaction between the two couples is so well done. The awkward moments are really awkward and as a viewer, you feel it too! That is some good writing and acting! The hotel manager, Valentina, is a hoot!

The location is beautiful too.

I liked the Season 2 finale of The White Lotus. I don't want to be a spoiler in case people are watching or intend to watch. It was a satisfying finale that tied everything together with a few loose ends that left me wondering. Consistent with the entire series, there were some hilarious lines. Looking forward to Season 3!

I didn't think that I would like this series...pretty good so far. Of course I knew who Tammy Wynette was but I didn't know anything about her and George Jones.

I'm watching the Last of Us too. Very much enjoying it!

I've never played the game, and I've never seen the Walking Dead so I can't make a comparison but the characters are superb.

Anybody else watching/watched Drops of God?

I'm 3 episodes in and love it! I read some positive reviews and thought I'd give it a whirl. Apparently it is adapted from a Manga series about wine!

You'll need your subtitles on unless you are trilingual and can speak French, Japanese and English.

"Nothing’s sweeter than death to kick off a story. Drops of God, a new series on Apple TV+, opens with the passing of a legendary French wine critic, Alexandre Léger, who leaves behind a massive private collection in Tokyo estimated to be worth $148 million — “the fruit of a lifetime’s work.” Leger was a megalomaniacal diva in life, and so he continues to be in death: The beneficiary of his trove is to be decided, perversely, through a series of ornate oenological tests pitting his estranged daughter Camille (Fleur Geffrier) against his Japanese protege, Issei Tomine (Tomohisa Yamashita).

But don’t let the gorgeous cinematography cloud your eyes: Drops of God is prestige television with a pure soap-operatic heart. Camille, years removed from her father’s hard-driving parenting and wine tutelage, is nowadays incapable of drinking the stuff. Literally: Even an ounce of alcohol causes her to keel over and bleed through her nose. Meanwhile, the stern, incredibly ripped Issei hails from a powerful diamond family whose patriarch threatens to cut him off over his professional passion for wine. Yes, Drops of God is a high-stakes succession drama steeped so lovingly in the wine world even LeBron James would feel out of his depth. But the series’ perspective is often so curious and bizarre as to be uniquely compelling. There’s really nothing else like it."

I haven't watched it yet, but I do remember thinking the trailer looked really good!

We just started watching Succession a few days ago and finished the Season 1 finale last night. My immediate feelings were, "How the fuck does this family survive 4 seasons!?"

Has anyone watched Barry on HBO?

I've been recommended it.
