Quarry was a good show. It sucks it didn't get renewed or picked up by another network. Thanks for the recommendation. I saw it during the free week its network had recently.Artemis wrote:creep, you really have to watch Quarry. It's only 8 episodes, season finale was last night. I think it's one of the best shows I have watched all year. The acting, directing, story and camera work are excellent. Last night's finale was close to perfection for tying up loose ends; it left the viewer satisfied. The entire series was directed by one director, Greg Yaitanes. Oh, and the music in the show is pretty great too.
Here's an example of the music. This is a cover of Sam &Dave tune. The show is set in early 70s Memphis.

I know it's old, but is The West Wing worth watching?

Marc Maron's character is hilarious.

Yeah...it's pretty good. I'm not a Marc Maron fan at all but he is really good in this. Alison Brie topless is a nice bonus too.wally wrote:anybody watching GLOW on netflix?

Re: Now Watching...
I liked GLOW better than his show Maron. It helps that I have a crush on him

I really enjoyed GLOW too.

The first episode of The Sinner was pretty good. Definitely worth a watch...
The show is based on a book by a German author, Petra Hammesfahr.

THE SINNER STARRING JESSICA BIEL AND BILL PULLMAN AIRS NEW EPISODES WEDNESDAYS AT 10/9c!
An eight episode close-ended series, The Sinner follows a young mother (Jessica Biel) who, when overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling act of violence and to her horror has no idea why. The event launches an inverted and utterly surprising crime thriller whose driving force is not the “who” or the “what” -- but the “why” -- as an investigator (Bill Pullman) finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman's buried motive. Together they travel a harrowing journey into the depths of her psyche and the violent secrets hidden in her past. New episodes of The Sinner air Wednesdays at 10/9c on USA.

I broke down and watched one of the curb your enthusiasm leaked episodes. It was just average...not great. I am going to try and hold off on watching any more.

Re: Now Watching...
I'm trying to slog through the final season of The Strain in 2-3 episode chunks and the only one I've remotely liked was the one from a couple weeks ago with Eichorst and Setrakian(sp?) in the medical research/baby harvesting facility.
Preacher is almost more frustrating - it's like they are trying to be a more action-oriented version of Twin Peaks with lotsa weird oddball shit but they've screwed up the characters and plot so badly, it's not even fun in a "True Blood" campy way anymore.

Five years ago I was really excited that there might be a 9th season (i.e., one year after season 8 ended). Now, I don't see how it will make any sense, and Larry seemed to be running out of ideas in Season 8 anyway. I love the show, but I'm not holding my breath. He quit Seinfeld after 6 seasons, and probably should have stopped Curb then too.creep wrote:I broke down and watched one of the curb your enthusiasm leaked episodes. It was just average...not great. Does anybody watch Power? It's in its fourth season on Starz.
I think it's a really good show, been watching since the beginning. 50 Cent produces and appears in the show.

Anyone watch Episodes on Showtime? The first episode of the new season was pretty good.
Re: Now Watching...
I'm hooked. Jessica Biel is magnificent. (Bill Pullman not so much. Well, I haven't really decided; I go back and forth)Artemis wrote:The first episode of The Sinner was pretty good. Definitely worth a watch...

Well, they just offed the two best characters on The Strain this week.
Re: Now Watching...
Anybody else watching The Deuce? Written and created by David Simon and George Pelecanos. They both worked together on The Wire and Treme.
It's on HBO, 3rd episode aired last night. So far, I really like it.
I have to say James Franco looks pretty hot in this show. His acting is good too..

^ I've been watching. It's pretty good. The storyline is a little on the slow side (I guess I expected more from the 3rd episode), but both the set and acting are great.

I just finished season 1. It was pretty good.farrellgirl99 wrote:Really want to watch this but don't have hulu! I read the book about ten years ago myself and loved it. I met Margaret Atwood at a book talk and signing a few years ago and found her captivating. Great writer. I need to watch this series!Artemis wrote:Has anybody watched any of the Handmaid's Tale on Hulu? The first 3 episodes were released last week, episode 4 is tonight.
I think the series so far has been really well done. I read the book over 20 years ago and really liked it. I think the show writers have done a good job of adapting the book.
Elizabeth Moss is excellent as always.
I need a new series to start. I just downloaded "better things". The review have been really good. Anyone watch it?
Re: Now Watching...
I recently watched a Netflix series called "Easy"
I thought it was going to be an annoying relationship series, but it was actually fun to watch.
I hope they do make a second season.
Another one is "The Good Place". I have a soft spot for Kristen Bell Had to binge on the first season because second season just started. I think it's on NBC, but I watch it on Netflix, too (guess it's the same for anyone outside the US)

Just finished first season of "Mindhunter" on Netflix. I highly recommend it
Not only it's produced by David Fincher, he also directed a couple of episodes. First season is only 10 episodes long. I watched them all in one day.Mindhunter is an American crime drama web television series created by Joe Penhall, based on the true crime book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. The series is produced by David Fincher and Charlize Theron among others, and debuted on Netflix on October 13, 2017. Mindhunter was renewed for a second season in April.

I've been watching 2 EPs per night the last couple days. Best show I've watched in a few years, highly recommended.perkana wrote:Just finished first season of "Mindhunter" on Netflix. I highly recommend it
Re: Now Watching...
about to start that one, I've heard others say good things about it as well.
I just finished American Vandal, a satirical take on documentaries like "Making a Murderer" and "Serial"
well done.
