I binged the first season of The OA (Netflix) last weekend. It wasn't what I expected; the trailers do not do it justice. I guess you could say it has a Stranger Things feel to it but is current and somewhat darker.

Season 2 dropped yesterday. I just finished the first episode. Although I'm hooked, I going to try to pace myself with this season.

There are eight episodes in both seasons.

I binge watched Idris Elba's Netflix show. I thought it was a funny and smart show. Big fan of Auntie Lydia

I finally watched "The Dirt". I wasn't bored and my favorite was Iwan Rheon. He was scary as Ramsay Bolton but he's actually a very funny chap. Have you seen "Vicious" with Ian McKellen and Derek Jakobi? It's one of my favorite shows.

i just started watching it. i was cracking up at the first police sketch of the subject. i don't remember what happened so i think that makes it more interesting to me. :noclue:
The case is still HUGE over here. Most people I know are sick of it and the parents (not Maddie). Episode 3 is really quite damning towards them, then episodes 4 and 5 kind of back tracks. I don't buy the abduction at all, and everything Kate did in the immediate aftermath was really quite strange shall we say. Not taking the twins out of the room, not answering police questions, washing Maddie's toy, the list goes on...

And if you have two hours to waste on this topic you can watch this, professional statement analyst Peter Hyatt's take on one interview they did.

What?! You didn't like Karate Kid? It was huge when I was little and I was proud that I practised that type of karate. It's cheesy but enjoyable.

Also watched the first episode of "The Case Against Adnan Syed". I was completely ignorant about this. I had heard about the Serial podcast but have never listened to it. I'm hooked.
I just finished this. I'm not 100% convinced that he didn't do it. Obviously that witness changed his story to better that case against him but I''m not convinced. I do have reasonable doubt so I would have to find him not guilty if I was a juror though I think. :noclue:

Aside from movies, the only series I'm currently watching is the new season of Billions. Kind of running a bit "Meh" after 3 episodes.

 I know, and my reaction was sarcastic. But I do like it. I must have been 9-10 when it came out. My karate teacher didn't aprove of it at first, but once he saw it, he made us sit down and talk about it once a week at least.
I'm only a big fan of the first one, second one was meh for me, but I kinda liked the fourth one with Hillary Swank.
This last show kinda makes me want to take karate lessons again (I dropped out once I was in middle school).

Well, he's still in jail. I don't know why I keep watching these docs that most likely won't have a happy ending.
I was all for him getting a new trial since the first investigation was completely mudded by the detective work.

This guy on Jeopardy this week is pretty good. He broke the all-time record yesterday for a days winning by a mile from winning 110 grand in one episode.
He's a professional sports bettor so that must help keeping your cool when big money is on the line.

I really enjoyed the 10-episode series, Ramy. Each episode is about 30 minutes. My favourite was the 7th, the one that focused on the mother.

Ramy Hassan is a first generation Egyptian-American who is on a spiritual journey in his politically-divided New Jersey neighborhood. RAMY will bring a new perspective to the screen as it explores the challenges of what it’s like being caught between a Muslim community that thinks life is a moral test and a millennial generation that thinks life has no consequences.

RAMY is a 10-episode half-hour comedy series written, executive produced, created by and starring Ramy Youssef, and executive produced by Jerrod Carmichael, A24’s Ravi Nandan, showrunner Bridget Bedard and co-creators Ari Katcher and Ryan Welch.

I enjoyed the first two episodes of The Act.(Hulu) It's a crime drama based on the real story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
Patricia Arquette plays the mother, DeeDee. Chloe Sevigny is in this too. The actor who plays Gypsy is really good.

Last night's episode 'Bonnieand Clyde' was the best of the series so far. Some dark humour and memorable lines too.The episode focused on Gypsy and her brief stint of freedom. Joey King's acting is superb! In real life, I don't know if she was as manipulative as she was portrayed in this episode. I was surprised to see Juliette Lewis as Nick's mom. All the 90s hot girl actors were reunited in this show- Patricia Arquette, Chloe Sevigny, Juliette Lewis.

Chloe will always be in my mind a fearless actor for Harmony Korine's masturbatory insanity in his art films.

I started watching "Dead to me" last night. It's funny and fast to watch like "Russian Doll" (one of my favorite Netflix shows this year)

Featuring stand-alone dramas -- sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales that explore techno-paranoia -- "Black Mirror" is a contemporary reworking of "The Twilight Zone" with stories that tap into the collective unease about the modern world. Each story features its own cast of unique characters, including stars like Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help"), Alice Eve, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tom Cullen and Jerome Flynn ("Game of Thrones"). Joe Wright, Dan Trachtenberg, and James Watkins are among the featured directors.
I'm four shows in and enjoying it.

I am halfway through Black Mirror. I just realized that I have been (unintentionally) been watching the series backwards. I think I will just keep doing it that way. This is an intense series, and from the little I've read the "pig episode" (the first episode in the series) is not for the squeamish. :scared:

Just finished the Broadchurch series. All three seasons are on Netflix (8 episodes each season). Great series; strong writing and acting. Olivia Colman is fabulous. This is the first time I have seen her in anything. (I know she is in the movie The Favorite, but I haven't seen it yet.)

Spending a lot more time the past couple weeks watching tv with my wife as she rehabs. Among a few shows/seasons we've plowed through include "What We Do In The Shadows" and "The Hot Zone." Hot Zone was pretty good, although it seemed like every possible rank amateur screw-up in the discovery, research and containment of the new strain of Ebola happens that strains credibility. WWDITS is more miss than hit. I really liked the movie the series is based on but I don't think the premise works as a weekly tv show. Still, there's occasional funny bits, the "Vampire Orgy" episode in particular had some decent moments.
