I picked Cubs over Indians in 7 back on Oct 8th, and won a contest because of it! My extended family's originally from Chicago, so this is a sweet victory for me, thinking of my late grampa and all the old-school Cubs fans who've been waiting a long time for this.

I didn't get home from work till 11pm because I was watching the game in the lunch room on the big TVs.

Yes Romeo!!! Cespedes back for 4 years! Sandy will turn Bruce, Granderson or both into some nice bullpen pieces. I hope we keep Grandy though. Bruce should bring back someone decent. deGrom, Matz, Syndergaard, Harvey and Wheeler all healthy with Gsellman and Lugo as the 6 and 7 starter....depth/bullpen!

If 2017 isn't our year I don't know when it will ever be.

Aww...Edwin is leaving to sign with Cleveland.

http://dailyhive.com/toronto/encarnacio ... nd-indians

Edwin Encarnacion has signed with the Cleveland Indians, MLB insider Jon Heyman reports. Encarnacion leaves the Blue Jays as a free agent for a three-year deal reportedly worth approximately $20 million per season.

It’ll be tough for Jays fans to see Encarnacion go, particularly given the fact that he rejected a four-year, $80 million contract with the Jays last month.

While the urge to blame Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins must be with a lot of fans, the mistake in this case was made by Encarnacion. Atkins couldn’t wait around forever, and when Encarnacion rejected a fair deal, he had to move on.

It has looked bleak for the Jays to re-sign Encarnacion ever since inking Kendrys Morales on November 11th.

While seeing Encarnacion leave for the team that beat the Jays in last year’s ALCS hurts, the silver lining is that they will receive a 25th overall draft pick from Cleveland.

Encarnacion also leaves their division, opting not to sign with the Red Sox, which is a positive. The soon to be 34-year-old Dominican Republic slugger had incredible season in 2016, finishing third in the AL in home runs (42) and second in RBIs (127).

We’ll see how he ages, but unquestionably this is going to hurt Toronto initially.

Encarnacion played eight seasons with the Blue Jays, appearing in 999 games, three All-Star Games, and hitting 239 home runs.

i love edwin, my favorite fantasy baseball stud

crazy market for baseball right now..if youre an average bullpen pitcher youre making bank, but if youre a slugger who bangs out 40 homers, you're jobless (carter, napoli, trumbo, bautista). not that i feel too bad for people who will only make $15-20 million a year instead of $30 but interesting market

Yeah, I don't know what happened with EE - did his manager screw up or the Blue Jays organization?? I read that EE wanted a few days before accepting the Jays 4 year deal but then after two days the BJs signed Kendrys Morales to a three year deal. I think EE wanted to stay but didn't like all the terms with four year deal initially offered. Good for Cleveland, I guess. Don't think Bautista will be around next season either, he wants too much money. I don't think it will be such a bad thing to lose him though.
