Hurricane Irene
Hurricane Irene
is coming east-coasters!
The governor has already declared a state of emergency.
I am optimistic that my area will be okay; however, I am sure the people in western Mass must be freaking out.

Re: Hurricane Irene
got my generator and booze. do your worst. it shouldn't be too terrible where I am, but some entities claim we could be without power for days or weeks. we'll see how that works out.
Re: Hurricane Irene
I'm hoping it doesn't fuck up my tomato plants or injure or kill any of my wildlife friends.
Re: Hurricane Irene

For real...I'm kinda worried...I've been thru hurricanes before but none as an adult...definitely a different thing when you have people to protect, etc...shitty part is where I live now we get power outages when there's a really bad thunderstorm so we KNOW we're screwed...tried to get a generator last minute, but the reasonably priced ones are sold, plus you don't wanna fuck up hooking those things up...got plenty of food, supplies, etc but I gotta admit I'm definitely feeling pretty anxious...again, everyone stay safe!

Ya, best of luck, Ill be bringing everything in the house and crossing my fingers on Sunday, usually these things are more hype by the time they get up here, but ya never know.
Re: Hurricane Irene
I can't even imagine what it must be like to live in areas like that where you can have a nice house one day and the next day it's spread out over a mile. Must be intense. We just had the most crazy lightning fest I've ever experienced in Denmark this evening, pretty cool to watch, but that's about as extreme as the weather gets here ever
Re: Hurricane Irene
I live in Roslyn, right now the eye is tracking to pass right over us. When I was in HS during Gloria in 1985 the eye went right over us, it was bizarre.
We have a generator and tons of food/water/supplies (as usual, not out of the ordinary) so I'm not too worried--I just hope there isn't too much structural damage and that our boat survives. It's in the safest and most sheltered part of the marina so I'm hopeful.
Stay safe, my friends

Re: Hurricane Irene
@Sue - Do you have an evacuation order?
Re: Hurricane Irene
Already been said, but I wish a safe ride to everyone through the storm.
My thoughts to all of you.

No chaos, luckily I am outside of it :)

All the best to the right coasters.

Starting to get windy here and the rain is coming down pretty good. Got the beer and food on ice just incase power goes out...about 3 more hours they say before the storm really gets going! Stay safe my friends

Re: Hurricane Irene
This storm is no joke...very high winds, we lost power and some how it came back on. I have heard sever transformers blow, those in nyc and along the northern sea board take notice!
Re: Hurricane Irene
just imagine what would be happening if it was a strong hurricane. lots of damage for a relatively small hurricane.
