Canada drew Group F with Belgium, Croatia and Morocco. Don't know how good Morocco is but Belgium and Croatia will be tough!

At least US made it...
Sometimes it seems they have a cohesive team and sometimes its a just a bunch of guys I've never heard of kicking the ball around. :conf:

That's why it's called FOOTball. Not soccer.

Should be an interesting tournament. Really bizarre it's in winter though. I think for England, our premier league finishes for a month 8 days before the start of the tournament.

Toronto and Vancouver will host 10 games in the 2026 World Cup. I don't know about Vancouver but for Toronto it's going to cost the tax payers about 300 million.
Or host cities include Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, New York/New Jersey as well as Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City."

KC! I'm hoping my Chiefs season ticket membership gets me first crack at tickets since it will be in their stadium, and that's how it goes for other events.

I had no idea you were a soccer fan. But that is pretty awesome if they give you free tickets.

I can't believe the World Cup is starting in about 2 weeks! So weird that it's in November.

Canada vs Belgium on Nov 23

I read some news today that Alphonso Davies has a ham string injury and had to leave a game early (Bayern Munich vs Hertha Berlin). I hope he'll be able to rep Team Canada.

"FIFA confirms no alcohol to be sold at Qatar World Cup stadiums "

https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/18/football ... index.html

"Following discussions between host country authorities and FIFA, a decision has been made to focus the sale of alcoholic beverages on the FIFA Fan Festival, other fan destinations and licensed venues, removing sales points of beer from Qatar’s FIFA World Cup 2022 stadium perimeters," FIFA said in a statement."

A dry (in the stadiums) World Cup must be a first in the history of the World Cup.

Way to breach the $75 million sponsorship deal with Budweiser a couple of days before the tournament starts.

Qatar is so small it built seven stadiums in the immediate vicinity of Doha (pop. ~2 million). What weird waste of resources. FIFA is so shwarmy.. :conf:

I'm still going to watch the US games.... :jasper:

Yes, makes one wonder what shady shit went down and how much money some people made.

It's expected that 1.5 million people will attend. There's not enough hotels, people will be staying on cruise ships and what looks like shipping containers in the fan village. I wonder if each of those containers has A/C? It's still pretty hot and humid there, around 30C during the day.

Unless I had a son who was playing in the tournament, I wouldn't go to Qatar.

I watched this...https://www.netflix.com/title/80221113

If half is true, FIFA is similar to a megachurch getting over on the masses and corrupt as fuck....but with much wider reach

I've grown to love soccer, but I have real problems with the host and the process that put them there. Probably shouldn't, but I have debates with my wife about which states we'll visit after trump.

Thanks, for the "FIFA Uncovered" recommendation, I'll check it out.

This morning I read that they're already having crowding issues and there's still more than a million people due to arrive. It's only going to get worse..

Caught little bits of the matches today.

England started off strong! At least Iran got 2 goals..

USA vs Wales was a good match, watched most of it. In the stands it looked like all of Wales was there.

I think Group F is going to be tough for Canada. :scared: Belgium ranks #2, Croatia #12, Morocco #22, Canada #41

US started out strong...ended not as good. Tie is not good for getting out of the group.

Wales were poor first half, but stepped it up in the 2nd.

United States have a tight outfit though, aside from Iran, it will be an interesting group.

Canada didn't get the W today but fought to the end. Definitely gave Belgium a run for their money! Seems the refs favoured Belgium, and so many missed shots, just couldn't get the ball into the net. Oh well, on to the next...Croatia.

Wow, that was the best I've seen US play with this young team. :tiphat:

Too bad nobody got a goal to finish. England looked flat.

Maybe we will make it out of the group.

Yeah, Belgium played really badly. We didn't deserve to win but I'm glad we did.

Kudos to Canada! Belgium will have to up their game, don't know if they can though. Then again, it's football, anything can happen. Missing the all for one, one for all attitude

Canada definitely has to win tomorrow to have a chance of going through the next round. We're the only one in Group F with 0 points.

I love this!

Of course, the Croation media is making more out of the comment. Tomorrow's game might be extra physical.

If you’re wondering why football (ball played with feet  ) is so popular, please watch a repeat or highlights of the World Cup Final. Not only will you see one of the greatest World Cup finals (or games!) of all time, you will also watch the greatest footballer of all time and also a future super star. What a game today
