Not really... but some women are in fact interested, go to matches and everything. But the higher the income, the less interest in football.Matz wrote:curious, are women as or almost as interested in watching football in South America as men are!? Yes, it was possible. However, by the time we got the tickets we had already booked our flights. Our idea was to have a vacation and visit those 3 cities, regardless of if we got tickets in the first place. Watching Chile was never even one of the factors, neither I nor my girlfriend were particularly interested in that.creep wrote:i know the tickets were a lottery but why couldn't you trade tickets with a fan from another country so you could watch chile? was that possible?
Re: World Cup
Best Suarez pic yet
Re: World Cup
Thanks, I think it's because it's a world thing and not just a local thing. Actually, it's the only cup I follow. There are more cups, but I'm just not into them. Only into the cute playerskv wrote:yeah i know..it's just everywhere, all consuming...it's like h1n1 was that one year

My kid and his friends are big into soccer...they don't play anything else in the school yard; but that's mostly because the majority of the kids have irish parents and are first generation in this country. I'm glad americans are getting into it, but I don't think this will have any lasting effect...we already have a sport we call football for starters, and they don't score enough in soccer for americans to get into it...it'd be second cousin of hockey out here, and the best players in the world aren't from here, so it definitely won't take off beyond the cup imo...
Re: World Cup
I love football. Seriously my favorite sport (to watch). I watch every game of 1. and 2. Bundesliga and all the other shit like Euro League, Champions League, DFB Pokal..and of course World Cup (though i still do not enjoy it as much as Bundesliga).Matz wrote:Most women here couldn't care less, ...
These are the heroes of my fave team, Bayer Leverkusen

The U.S.A. in the world cup is like Jamaicans on bobsleds to the rest of the world...I'm actually rooting some third world country will kick our asses so we can all get off the damn band wagon and root for some respectable foreigners like any people with dignity would...
Re: World Cup
Big ban on Suárez, 9 matches and 4 months. The poor guy, too much passion.

Re: World Cup

We are no were near the bobsled team.Essence_Smith wrote:The U.S.A. in the world cup is like Jamaicans on bobsleds to the rest of the world...I'm actually rooting some third world country will kick our asses so we can all get off the damn band wagon and root for some respectable foreigners like any people with dignity would...

Yeah, what the hell? US has played great and nearly got a draw against a really good German squad. They are advancing to the round of 16 and deserve it. A lot of our players are even homegrown MLS!LJF wrote:that's just a sad statement. This country with as diverse as it is should and could do so much better. They showed very well against Germany. The Germans had 27 more hours of rest between matches and the US was coming off a game Manaus, which is the most difficult to play in. This team has played well and they deserve to be where they are, coming out of the group of death.
The German team made Portugal look like a bunch a bobsledders trying to play soccer.
