Great match. And that friction' bloody head. Looked like a hatchet to the skull. How did they let her continue playing? She was still bleeding when the game finished some 45 minutes later.
I'm glad US got that second goal or they're be a lot of chatter today about the penalty kick call when the contact came outside the box.

I was actually JUST looking up when it was! There was all this confusion with Fox and FIFA or something about when it was.
I am actually at my site today, but I will call it early to catch the game, and do some more work afterewards.
It's 98 F today!!!!
Perfect timing!
Re: World Cup
I hope you made home in time;it's 2-0 for the US already!
Re: World Cup
USA! USA!USA!
They certainly deserved it.
They certainly deserved it.
Re: World Cup
Congratulations to the US women's team for a well earned win over Japan.
This game incorporated some tremendous team play from both sides as well as an amazing goal shot from mid-field over the Japan goalie's head.

Re: World Cup
You have a pretty country Art!
( I've been there many times, just the flyover shots are compelling )
Victoria BC, Vanc Island is my favourite.
I was dissapointed they didn't do the same scenery shots for the men's Brazil cup.
South Africa looked amazing as well the cup prior.

Denmark's going to the World cup! We destroyed Ireland a couple of days ago 5-1 in the final game. I forgot to watch though
Re: World Cup
I'm sorry The Netherlands is out but at least we won't see this bozo
And first time I won't hate an American friend. If I heard him say "Dos a cero" one more time, a friendship would have been lost forever.
I'm sad about Italy...been a fan of theirs since our World Cup in '86. The WC '90 team has been my all time favorite. I have all their pictures and news clips in an album.

Re: World Cup
Hazaaa for Belgium!
We have all the stats and the players going for us, but man, does our team suck. We have some of the best players in the world, but they just can't seem to be able to play together.
Some blame the coach, I just blame the team.
Love him or hate him, but Robben is a good player ...

Robben: I hate him
With Italy not in, wow let me guess that Spain ,Germany and France go for the cup on the european side.
Well, at least Germany has now my fave player in the team, Emre Can, who currently plays for Liverpool
Awesome looking guy with skills

Re: World Cup
I'm so stoked for Iceland, Denmark and Peru. All of them have done a great job in recent years trying to improve their development, so to see that pay off for them has been great.
Belgium should get a better manager, I think. Dr Bruyne and Lukaku should/could be destroying teams left, right and centre. Big Fella could play an important role too. But with their pick of coach, nothing is going to happen.
Please, Lord Ganesh, let us have another Germany vs. Argentina final. Please, almighty Thor, let Messi have this one.

A Toronto sports team FINALLY wins a cup...
Congrats Toronto FC!!
Great win! Toronto was by far the better team today. It was a surprisingly good game with talent and skill displayed throughout.
Must have been chilly for the fans watching at the stadium, temp only 0C.

Congrats to CANAMEX for winning 2026 bid to co-host world cup. Hopefully, Trump doesn't destroy Canada and Mexico before then.
For this year, I'm going to cheer for Iceland!

Bad news for Ronaldo though..

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reached a deal with the Spanish tax authorities to serve two years in prison and pay an 18.8-million euro ($21.8-million US) fine in a tax evasion case, newspaper El Mundo reported on Friday.
Ronaldo is unlikely to serve any time in jail under the deal because Spanish law states that a sentence of under two years for a first offence can be served on probation.
The 33-year-old Portuguese footballer, who is accused of evading taxes worth 14.7 million euros (17.1 million US) and, through his agents, has denied the allegations.
Ronaldo is due to play for Portugal on Friday in a World Cup match against Spain in Russia.
Gestifute, the agency representing the player, was not immediately available to comment on the report on Friday. The Spanish tax agency also declined to comment.
Spanish courts have recently cracked down on tax evasion among leading footballers.
Barcelona's Lionel Messi was handed a 21-month prison sentence in 2017 on similar charges, but under Spanish law, was able to exchange the penalty for a fine.
Between 2005 and 2010, foreign players in Spain were protected under the so-called "Beckham law" allowing them to curb their taxes. But as the financial crisis bit deeper, that exemption was lifted, paving the way for the cases.
Re: World Cup
What a fantastic debut! Massive respect for Iceland!

Denmark's playing right now, such a boring game
