Do you think these strawberries in cognac purchased in 1990 are still edible?

This has inspired me to poke around online and see what I can find out. I have found a few instances saying that the strawberries will last indefinitely, but I am also seeing a number of instances where specific timelines are given in weeks, months, or years. Ultimately, I wouldn’t risk it.

I’m also now seeing the 18% ABV. That seems very low. And the lower alcohol content would mean less preservation. I definitely wouldn’t trust it.

That's a 36 proof beverage. Is the cork or seal "weeping"? Storage and other factors go into whether or not it's safe, but I agree it's not worth the risk especially because just the idea of a strawberry infused cognac is revolting.

I'm not going to risk it. The reason I though that it might be okay is that there is no mold and the strawberries are intact-though it looks gross in the pic I posted. If it was 20 years old I might have given it a try drizzled on ice cream.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. :tiphat:
