Rolling Stone like just about everyone else more or less swiped their news from TMZ who trash tabloid though they are, usually get it right in these kind of situations.
Now it's being reported that while he did suffer what appears to be a major heart attack overnight and was unconscious for an unknown period of time (he had no pulse when paramedics arrived), is brain dead and had a DNR, when he was taken off life support earlier today, he was breathing on his own and "clinging to life."

Everyone I knew growing up had that Greatest Hits CD in their car. Even chicks I dated who didn't like rock. Like it was issued to us at birth. Loved the guy. Fucking sad. I should have seen him when I had the chance.

I'm a bit of a roc doc junkie....anything really, obscure, never made it fringe types, punk, cock rock, Wrecking Crew/Muscle Shoals stuff, folk, grunge, etc....one of the best, most entertaining ones I have seen was on TP. It's on Netflix....runs almost 4 hours and isn't long enough. I am not a fan, but I think for anyone who is this is probably a must see... directed by Peter Bogdanovich for any film buffs who'd care
My 1st show at the Fillmore was Tom Petty on the last night of a 20 night run in 97, played 40 songs, over 3 hours,, what a night.. RIP Tom

One of my favorite times seeing him was seeing him close out ACL in like 2006 or 2007 and the skies opened up and it started pouring and people started leaving but Tom just kept right on playing, so I'm standing there soaked cell phone ruined just in awe of the performance. The worse the weather was the better he was playing. It was surreal.

I took my dad to a Tom Petty tour in the mid to early 2000s. Great show. Then took my dad to Stevie Nicks show few years later and Tom Petty sang some songs with her. Cool stuff. Great time with my dad.

Vocalist appeared on 1986's 'We Care A Lot' and 1987's 'Introduce Yourself'
Charles Henry "Chuck" Mosley III, best known as former lead vocalist of Faith No More, died yesterday, November 9th. He was 57. While his official cause of death has yet to be revealed, Mosley's family, who announced the news, attribute his passing to "the disease of addiction." "We're sharing the manner in which he passed, in the hopes that it might serve as a warning or wake up call or beacon to anyone else struggling to fight for sobriety," they said in a statement.
Born in 1959, Mosley grew up in Los Angeles. In the late Seventies, he met Billy Gould, Faith No More's eventual bassist; he played in several bands (including Gould's first band, the Animated) before enlisting with Faith No More in 1985. Mosley fronted the band for its first two albums, 1986's We Care A Lot and 1987's Introduce Yourself. Due to personal and creative differences, Mosley split with the band in 1988, following Faith No More's European tour behind the latter release; Mike Patton stepped in to take his place.
Post–Faith No More, Mosley did a two-year stint as the lead vocalist for seminal D.C. punks Bad Brains, and later formed the funk-metal band Cement, who went on to release two albums in the early Nineties. In 2009, he released his first and only solo album, Will Rap Over Hard Rock for Food; the record featured appearances by members of Faith No More, Korn and others.
Mosley is survived by his long-term partner Pip Logan, two daughters, Erica and Sophie, and his grandson, Wolfgang Logan Mosley. The family will be accepting donations for funeral expenses; details are currently TBA.

Never heard of him, but Lil Peep fell at 21 years old. Apparently mixed guitars into rap/emo style music and amassed a large following in the last couple of years after binging on drugs and music creation on LA's skid row after growing up in Long Island. Dad was a proff and mom an elementary school teacher....struggled mightily with depression and suicidal ideation for some time.
Buh-bye, Malcolm Young. Dementia is a terrible disease and I guess the one positive is he didn't live decades suffering the worst effects. He was glue that held AC/DC together. Sadly Angus' other brother George Young passed away only weeks ago as well.

Yeah, sad. I never knew thought that dementia causes death but rather impairs other fight functions of the body and mind to resist other disease. My mom was diagnosed but lung cancer got her well before any collateral damage from dementia manifested. She did immediately write a letter with paragraphs to my dad and each of her children to be revealed after her death though.
This band has had a really weird year/18 months. This, the Rudd attempted murder shitstorm and the loss of the lead singer and yet they continued.

Sounds like David Cassidy will be next. He was hospitalized with organ failure and family is saying lAst words. He also has dementia.

Yeah, culminating in Axl Rose finishing their tour as the frontman after Brian Johnson was more or less sacked.
One thing that pissed me off tonight, several news stations were reporting on Malcolm's death but showing clips of his brother Angus.

Former MOTÖRHEAD and FASTWAY guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke passed away yesterday (January 10) after a battle with pneumonia. He was 67 years old.
Clarke was a member of MOTÖRHEAD from 1976 until 1982. He was one-third of the band's classic lineup, which also included drummer Philthy "Animal" Taylor, who died in November 2015 of liver failure. Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister succumbed to cancer the following month.
