The Tennis thread
Re: The Tennis thread
Nick Kyrgios has a tantrum. He was upset with spectators talking and yelling while he was tryin to serve.
Re: The Tennis thread
Bianca!
Down one set and frustrated throughout much of the night, the 19-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., seeded 15th, was nonetheless able to compose herself under the bright lights, battling back against the No. 25 seed Mertens to win a gruelling three-set match, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. The match lasted two hours and one minute.
Andreescu is now the second Canadian to ever advance to the U.S. Open semifinals — after Carling Bassett in 1984 — and the fourth woman in history to reach the semifinals in her Open debut. Andreescu will play the No. 13-ranked Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic in Thursday night's semifinal.
Re: The Tennis thread
WOW! Bianca Andreescu won and made history as the 1st woman to ever win the US Open in her first appearance in the Tournament. She’s 19, Canadian, and on fire. Amazing match. The crowd was against her but she tuned them out and stayed disciplined.
Re: The Tennis thread
The shift is complete in women's tennis. GoGo Coco!
Congrats, yes she is on a tear this year, not just in wins but sets dropped

Re: The Tennis thread
Looking forward to tomorrow's Wimbledon action...2 Canadians in the quarter finals.
Re: The Tennis thread
DJOKOVIC VS. SHAPOVALOV on Friday! Semi-finals!
Re: The Tennis thread
Should be a great match! #Leylah
Re: The Tennis thread
I used to love watching tennis as a kid. Especially the McEnroe days. Not so much any more.
untold...breaking point on Netflix is pretty good.

Re: The Tennis thread
I wonder what the verdict on Novaxx Djokovic will be. The drama with him is ridiculous now. Visa revoked twice, his manager didn't fill out the forms properly, he did a photoshoot sick with Covid "not to disappoint" the journalist, his father portraying him like he's Jesus or something, ffs...
Re: The Tennis thread
I'm going to be watching the French Open tomorrow morning.
Coco Gauff is going up against the number one ranked womens single champ Swiatek for the championship.
It's impressive because Coco just recently turned 18 and is the first US woman to make it to a major final as
a teen since Serena did it over 20 years ago.
Swiatek appears to be unstoppable though and only 21 herself so hopefully a rivalry is born out of this.

Re: The Tennis thread
What was the deal with this little piece of work?
Re: The Tennis thread
So Serena is coming back for Wimbledon next week. I'm pretty pumped up about it. I still haven't seen that movie yet King Richard.
Re: The Tennis thread
This was one of the last good movies I saw Will Smith in.
Re: The Tennis thread
Djokovic cant play in ithe us open that sucks. He's banished.
Re: The Tennis thread
I still love Nadal he's a favorite of mine. Kyrgios has been fun to watch lately. He's got all those basketball tattoos.
Re: The Tennis thread
Serena Williams vs Danka Kovinic (not familiar with her) at 7pm(est) tomorrow.
Six Canadians in the US Open this year:
Leylah Fernandez
Felix Auger-Aliassime
Bianca Andreescu
Denis Shapovalov
Rebecca Marino
Gabriela Dabrowski in doubles

Re: The Tennis thread
Down goes Medvedev now it's up for grabs
Re: The Tennis thread
How far can Coco Gauff go this Australian Open that's what I'm wondering.
Re: The Tennis thread
I started watching this. It's pretty good.
Re: The Tennis thread
Did anyone watch Venus yesterday that was pretty awesome. I just put on the tennis channel by coincidence. I honestly didn't know she still played.
Re: The Tennis thread
I'm a little bit pissed off that both Coco and Venus were both beat already in Wimbledon. Those were some tough first round draws
Re: The Tennis thread
It's Canadian Open now which leads right into the US Open. There's not much break between those 2. It's crunch time.
