It is terrible. They have never gotten my address right on their first delivery attempt.
Amazon installed delivery lockers in Whole Foods stores; they will send you a text with a retrieval code once your package is delivered. There is a store down the street from where I live, and I just picked up a package. It is so easy and convenient.

I think that is the first positive thing you have said about Amazon. We have those lockers all around the city I live in. I use them to return stuff since it's easier than taking a package to UPS or the post office. he lockers can fill up fast which is sort of annoying.

Don't know how you have held out for so long. When we met you didn't have a cell phone or a TV... right?

The deal on the mixer was really good, I couldn't resist.

I've only had a cell phone for 2 years now. I know, I know, I'm a slow to get with the times.

This is really great news for Mexico. Does he have a plan for dealing with the cartels/violence (especially against students)?

He believes education and helping economically and not punishing the people who have to plant poppies because of the cartels. And stop using military force in the war against drugs. His secretary of state has been very vocal about legalizing drugs (mj). So we'll have to see but I think it's a good start.
And I think it will be better for students and everybody since PRI didn't win any state (governor).

This is how the senate and the house of representatives turned out:

So I think there will be support for him on any of his policies.

So, I almost started a thread for MTV with this article but maybe 5 of us are old enough to remember it's launch. Really fun article punctuated with really old vids about the core VJ's and it's struggle to launch and subsequent explosion that changed the music scene forever. I must admit I was a hater and remember thinking that Pete Townshend was am old douche trying to be a kid again by endorsing it. Too, it looks like Billy Squire can be credited with the invention of the Christmas Ugly Sweater tradition.

That was a great read! I loved the story about Bob Dylan and the first meeting with Bono before he was Bono. The Paul McCartney story was awesome too. Cool that she kept the unwashed teacup and spoon,

MTV wasn't broadcast in Canada in the early years. In 1984 we got Much Music which was the Canadian version of MTV.

I do recall watching the first MTV awards with Madonna and her Like A Virgin performance. So scandalous for that time..

Those were the days...sigh.

My parents were too frugal to buy cable tv way back then. I would watch mtv at my friends and cousins and next door neighbor houses though. I don't quite remember the actual launch of mtv but started watching it a lot around the time Duran Duran was big.

We had this homeade box called On TV that my dad built after getting the blueprint somewhere. It would show 2 fairly recent new movies at night.

This was ground breaking. My intro to boxing was on On...parties at a friend's house who splurged on it for the SRL-RD and MH fights. They also had soft porn :thumb:

As I remember it, ON was pre cable. It was the first delivery system for motion pictures and ppv events. And, it had late night soft porn.

Just wiki'd it...was only around from 77-85...was a scrambled UHF feed...forgot all about ON having sports but def remember kings and Lakers games now...plus concerts which I also forgot all about.... it's something our generation had that seems foreign to every gen after...pre cable, pre cell phone, pre internet, pre microwave...hell and watching flag colors to buy gas lol

Strange how old memories flood back stuff you've never thought of...I just remembered cursader rabbit cartoons on ON as well

Just installed a new central air system at the house. Being without AC for almost 14 hours in the hill country heat is what the kids these days call "fucking brutal" luckily I had some spare window units so it wasn't as bad as it could have been but the rest of the house was in the 90s in the rooms without those units.

Ahhh, home video, circa 1980. My first VCR, mono sound, whopping 24 hour record timer, weighing about 30lbs. First few movies released on VHS or Beta costing $90 a tape. I was an early adopter to OnTV... that itty bitty wire antenna... the quality was pretty rough even for standard def tv. I remember hosting a big party in late ‘81 watching that Rolling Stones PPV concert where Keith smacked the stage crasher with his guitar during the encore.
