That time sink is why it costs 800 bucks to fix it fast...the guy for 800 already knows how to fix it and has the tools, parts, skills, xp and insurance...(yes I worked auto industry) what's great about today is the info is handy...and there are a million ways to save money if you wanna educate yourself and risk it...
yup. I agree for the most part. Everybody does want something for free, and people are not willing to pay for expertise and saving time. "I coulda done that!?" Well....do it then...! :noclue:

I just hate when you pay that $800 and you still get a shit job. :banghead:

Also bonus, it feels GREAT when you do it yourself. :wiggle:

No doubt...what sucks is when it goes south and you waste money, time and effort and then have to gather your broken mess up and go pay 800 more to get it fixed lol I did that shit a couple times as a home owner..."how come whenever I fix a broken pipe the one next to it leaks next but not when the Plummer fixes shit lol?"

Ya..except I hardly ever get to that point. I don't have shit and a lot of the shit I do have is hanging on to it's last thread, or looks like shit.

But when I sense that somebody knows what they are doing I pepper them with questions to the point of annoying the hell out of them.

Concrete....

If I could be an annoying fuck and learn anything right now, I would stand there and watch all day and pepper those guys with questions who place forms and rebar and also the guys who do the pouring and finish work for concrete.
They aren't very talkative I have gathered in previous experiences.....

To piggy back on this thread regarding building stuff, my wife decided she no longer likes her old roll top desk and bought a relatively cheap Office Depot desk and file cabinet to better accommodate he new giant computer monitor I bought her recently. Of course, these two pieces of made in China cheap ass faux wood furniture come in giant 70-100lb boxes and in about a billion pieces which is what I spent my entire Wednesday putting together. I really hate putting together this kind of stuff because there's always some holes in the cheap laminate wood that are stripped or there's missing nuts, bolts, screws or other dinky parts. But in this case, everything went together well, it just took all day and my old guy back was killing me by dinner time.

So now I have a nice roll top desk and a weird black Asian themed liquor cabinet (that she used for paperwork and to put her printer on) from her parents estate that I have no place to store in the house or garage that I'll probably have to unload via Craigslist.

At least our kitchen, dining room and laundry room and flooring is finished from the April flooding and we're done with the hotel thing until the next disaster strikes. I've bitched in the past about Contractors but I have to say the guys that did this job did ok by me.

YouTube is a Do-It-Yourself'ers library of knowledge. I've learned how to do everything from rewiring and soldering new pickups in a guitar to installing a toilet to re-coning a speaker.

I live by a park with river access and have been wanting to get a kayak to do some exploring, so with some COVID money I decided to pick up a nice used sea kayak. They normally go for $2,000+ but picked up a nice used onefor $500 on Craigslist.

Anyways got the restof the accessories (boy do you need a bunch of stuff....$$$$$$$) used for pretty good deal and went paddling today... :thumb:
Awesome day.

Oh and I threw in some sweet graffiti from the short walk to the launch.

My first garden is actually working!

Who knew you put little green things in the ground and it would turn into this!!!

Started like this:

1- 1/2 months later....THIS!

I have planted Acorn Squash, Butternut Squash, Patterson Storage Onions, Scallions, Black Beauty Zucchini, Parel Green Cabbage, Walla Walla Onions, Red Acre Cabbage, German Leeks, Tomato Fantastic, Gold Medal Tomatoes, Brandywine Tomatoes, Hillbilly Tomatoes, Italian Heirloom Tomatoes, Red Cherry Tomatoes, Oregon Spring Tomatoes, Sugar Rush Tomatoes, Sweet Meat Tomatoes, Big Beef Tomatoes, Fallen Beets and some strawberries.

I have the figure out what to do with tomatoes...... I also have hundreds of bartlett pears coming in late summer.

You could make tomato sauce/chili sauce and jar it, homemade ketchup(I'm sure it would be superior to Heinz.)

Gazpacho would be a good way to use tomatoes too.

Cold gazpacho sounds great on a hot day like today!

It's been 90 F+ for three days now....
Took a nice long 50 mile ride yesterday and just about fainted when I got back
and spent today in my tomato jungle...I felt like I was in some steamy tropical place.

TOO HOT!

5:30 am before the heat arrived for the day. Only annoying thing was fish kept jumping around the boat, thought one was going to end up in the boat.

THen this tug goes by later. Really neat to see up close how much water they move, it just plows through it. However I wasn't paying attention and just about capsized after the 5' rolling swells came at me one after another...
