Yesterday I started feeling like I was coming down with a bad cold.

Today I'm suffering with the flu.

Perfect way to end the year :jasper:

Feeling like yuck today due to lack of sleep. I was a little over enthusiastic with my new espresso maker yesterday. I made a couple of double espresso lattes, then a few plain double espressos. :dunce:  #allwiredup

Noticed a kind of musty, humid smell in the bathroom adjacent to the laundry room earlier this week, figured it was just due to the days of rain raising the humidity. Then last night, I noticed a damp spot on the carpet against the wall in our bedroom which is right on the other side of the wall where the laundry room and the water heater cabinet are located. Sure enough, I look under the water heater, it's leaking and probably has been for several days. So today and probably about $1,500 later, I'm replacing the water heater.

make sure it's not just leaking from the pressure relief valve. If it is that is usually a $20 fix.

Water heater replacement is so over priced. It is a relatively easy job but it is supposed to be permitted so that drives up the cost.

You should be able to get a rebate from your gas company so that might help a little. :noclue:

It was definitely the water heater that was leaking. The guy pulled it out and at the base in the back there was a welded joint that was leaking. Surprisingly, considering the heater was manufactured in 1991, there was zero rust or corrosion, but it was way past due time to be replaced. I probably could have done it myself, especially after watching the guy do it, but I don't like to meddle with anything that involves gas or electric wiring. But yeah, I priced the water heater and it was just under $600 with tax and the installation was $700 = $1,300 total. My bunghole hurts.
