Last week I fell in a bathroom, today I fell on the street. Bruised lip, busted right knee, hurt fingers on my left hand. Nothing broken, just hurt my dignity.

Almost two weeks ago, my wife had major emergency stomach surgery.... again.

I know I long ago around 2014 mentioned in my typical great detail how my wife had a similar episode that was complicated by a hernia leading to 2 emergency surgeries in a week's time due to the first surgery resulting in her lower bowel being twisted and her aspirating overnight in the ER resulting with her nearly dying and being on a ventilator for almost two weeks. It took a long time but she fully recovered.

So anyway, a couple weeks ago, she came home from work, felt fine we walked the dog before dinner, she felt kind of crampy and had me skip dinner and make just oatmeal for her. Within a couple hours, she was in agonizing pain and I rushed her to the ER. Within a few hours, an ultrasound and an scan discovered she had an upper bowel blockage that was about to burst. She was ambulanced to a hospital in the South Bay where they did emergency surgery, again opening her up from belly button to sternum. Her upper stomach under her diaphragm ruptured during surgery necessitating repairing and rerouting the duodenum(sp?).

The first morning after she came out of surgery, she was in such pain, they over-medicated her on pain drugs and as I'm sitting there holding her hand, she fell sleep and her breathing slowed down to the point she was gulping air like a fish out of water. I ran out yelling in the hallway and nurses came in and gave her a shot of narcon in her iv which amazingly (just like in Pulp Fiction) revived her almost instantly. I brought her home Tuesday and it's going to be a month or so before she can eat even semi-solid food again and I'm caring for her 24/7.

OMG. You have both been through hell.
I realize your wife's recovery process will be long but it's good to hear it's moving in the right direction.

Yeah, besides being really dangerous, obstructions are notoriously evil in their pain levels. Sorry to hear this; hope she's feeling better. And btw, what fucking hospital od'd her? That's just beyond bizarre

The Kaiser Hospital in South Bay/Wilmington. They're a teaching hospital which I wasn't initially aware of until the 2nd day when a nurse came in with a student to change my wife's iv to her other hand. The student looked a bit panicky trying to get the needle in the vein and my wife, even as heavily medicated as she was literally demanded the nurse herself do the stick. I've grown to realize through these experiences that when someone is in the hospital pretty much incapacitated like my wife's been, that person REALLY needs someone to be there with them as much as possible, especially the first few days of a recovery to advocate for them as it seems pretty easy for bad shit to happen.

no. They've got a good riff here and there and stuff but for the most part they seem so dependent on that off meter stuff in order to be "interesting". As a result they lack grooves. I think Maynards vocal melodies are boring and flat too. I don't get why they're so huge, I really don't
