Sometimes it's worth losing the money if it means preserving your health and sanity. Maybe take a day off when there is a long weekend so you have 4 days or add 2 days, 1 before the holiday,+1 after so you have 5 days off.
I've had those same thoughts. I really need the money. And long weekends just mean longer work weeks to catch up. It's like I almost have to accept completely fucking myself if I want to relax. Not sure how much good a little relaxing coupled with a little being fucked will help.
I understand what you're saying. I guess the time off will be wasted if all you are thinking about is how much work you'll have when you get back. That sucks.

It's good we have this place

Took off October 7th (Friday) and 10th (Monday). I'm going to get all my Friday work done (as much as possible) Thursday and then Monday is a bank holiday so hopefully a lot of my clients will think I'm not going to be there anyway. Seemed like the smartest way to go about getting 4 days off in a row.

:thumb: If it's a national bank holiday, I'm sure your clients will think you're off. They'll probably be off too...so it works out perfectly! Enjoy!
10/10 is the Canadian Thanksgiving, btw. I'm sure you don't care...

It's interesting. I didn't know there was a Canadian Thanksgiving. What's the history behind it? How do you celebrate?

Canadian Thanksgiving is basically a celebration of the harvest and giving thanks for the bounty of the season. It's not a religious holiday, but places of worship all have a special sermon about giving thanks and sharing the bounty with those less fortunate. Most people spend time with their families and eat a lot.
People feast on turkey, and seasonal vegetables(root vegetables),cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie...pretty much the same as American Thanksgiving.
It's also the end of the summer cottage season. Many people use this weekend to close up their cottage for the winter.
We don't have a big parade or watch football.

History and Origin of Canadian Thanksgiving

In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. Unlike the American tradition of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest. The harvest season falls earlier in Canada compared to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada is further north.

The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an English explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been trying to find a northern passage to the Orient. He did not succeed but he did establish a settlement in Northern America. In the year 1578, he held a formal ceremony, in what is now called Newfoundland, to give thanks for surviving the long journey. This is considered the first Canadian Thanksgiving. Other settlers arrived and continued these ceremonies. He was later knighted and had an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in northern Canada named after him - Frobisher Bay.

At the same time, French settlers, having crossed the ocean and arrived in Canada with explorer Samuel de Champlain, also held huge feasts of thanks. They even formed 'The Order of Good Cheer' and gladly shared their food with their Indian neighbours.

After the Seven Year's War ended in 1763, the citizens of Halifax held a special day of Thanksgiving.

During the American Revolution, Americans who remained loyal to England moved to Canada where they brought the customs and practices of the American Thanksgiving to Canada. There are many similarities between the two Thanksgivings such as the cornucopia and the pumpkin pie.

Eventually in 1879, Parliament declared November 6th a day of Thanksgiving and a national holiday. Over the years many dates were used for Thanksgiving, the most popular was the 3rd Monday in October. After World War I, both Armistice Day and Thanksgiving were celebrated on the Monday of the week in which November 11th occurred. Ten years later, in 1931, the two days became separate holidays and Armistice Day was renamed Remembrance Day.

Finally, on January 31st, 1957, Parliament proclaimed...

"A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed ... to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.

ah you probably didn't need that extra serving anyway.... Like a crazy Jewish girl once told me "taste makes waist"... :lolol:

man she was one odd chick. She didn't drink. Ever, but she was all "grown up and mature" at 25. She was all about the sanctity of marriage etc etc. She didn't fuck before marriage, then met this canadian guy, went to canadia with him, married him, two years later I run into her in Brisbane [Australia] again where she'd left him and was in the middle of divorcing him.. and she was super curvy hot...

I guess I crave playing music live again already. But, nothing else. I've been eating amazing food every night and I've been getting laid more than enough lately. So.......Maybe I'll just have some beer tonight. :noclue:

do you have a new puppy?

if so, you need to post pics in the "random and cute" thread.

Nay... hence the craving...

If I did, you'd have already seen photos in "made your day", "cute", "funny", and probably a new thread just for my little monster.

Side note... My favorite pug/pug-mix names are Bozley and Bosco. If I got a girl, she'd be Elizabeth.
SN2: If I ever had a cat and a German Shepherd, I'd name the dog "Whiskers" and the cat "Shep".

...but, goddamn... I could really go for a pug laying next to me, snorting, farting, and snoring all day.

Indian/Pakistani curry. The spicier the better. Throw some lamb in there.
