Mexico Earthquakes

#1 Post by Pandemonium » Tue Sep 19, 2017 2:19 pm

Another major earthquake, this one very close to Mexico city, about a 7.1 this afternoon. Preliminary word is some buildings collapsed and already upwards of 50 fatalities. Hope all is well with Perkana and anyone else affected in some way by this.

As Art said, I am ok. A building collapsed in my neighborhood and they were still looking for two women. A friend of a friend is trapped in another collapsed building. Twenty two kids were killed (ages 6-14) and 50 are still trapped. I came to see my parents last Thursday because my grandmother was feeling worse (she passed away on Sunday), so fortunately I was away from Mexico City.

Yeah, it's been awful. Especially because my granny was suffering  (she had a nasal linfoma that came back with a vengeance after 2 months in remission).
About the earthquakes, the one on the 7th affected 2 states really badly and yesterday's hit us hard in Mexico City. There had been a drill to conmemorate the 32nd anniversary of the one that had killed thousands of people. I really hope the government becomes stricter with building companies because the same areas were affected again.
I'm leaving this list with ways to help us out:
1. Donate to Topos rescue team by PayPal to donativos@brigada-rescate-topos.org
2. Buy products on the Mexican Red Cross Amazon wishlist http://www.amazon.com.mx/registry/wishl ... 7290014011
3. Deposit money to the Mexican Red Cross Bancomer account CLABE 012180004040404062 on behalf of Cruz Roja Mexicana I.A.P.
Any help will be very much appreciated!

Here's a google map that shows the buildings that collapsed (red marks, only one building collapsed near where I live)...

Two of my relatives went missing in the area as well, we were notified about it yesterday afternoon. It's terrible, I couldn't imagine being there.
