Buffalo wings.
I was probably 27 years old before I would eat them. Not because they smelled bad. But because the orange colored sauce made my brain just immediately say "NO WAY"
Then one day, drunk, I ordered an appetizer combo that had a few. I gave it a try and discovered they are fucking delicious. That's when I started eating spicy food in general. Salsa that sets your face on fire. The hottest thai food places will make. Stuff like that.
2-3 years later I developed acid reflux and now any spicy foods fuck me up.
Life is stupid.
Foods you disliked until you reached adulthood
Re: Foods you disliked until you reached adulthood
Lots. Oysters stand out though because as a kid I thought people who ate them had something wrong with them, for real. Now, I think they are one of the few perfect foods. I have had just about everything from offal, most other organ meat to bugs. I'd list them, but you probably have too if you've ever eaten a hot dog. To this day, I have yet to have a calves' liver prepared to my liking and I will never eat Tilapia

I haven't had a good calf's liver since 1990!SR wrote: To this day, I have yet to have a calves' liver prepared to my liking...
At the time, I was working in one of the restaurants at the Inter-Continental Hotel in London. I don't recall all the ingredients now but the calf's liver was perfectly grilled with shallots, a port wine sauce( maybe it was a jus, don't remember exactly), thyme, sage and served with the best Rösti I have ever had.
