Wristcutters: A Love Story (2006)

Has the reporter kid from Almost Famous in it, Tom Waits and a bunch of other indie-ish notables. Made on a budget of about $1 million, and far better than any $100 million big-budget film I've seen in ages.

Oh and...

Dark Days (2000/2010 10th Anniversary edition)

A documentary, shot completely in black and white, about the homeless community living in the abandoned subway tunnels under NYC between 1995 - 1999, with musical score by DJ Shadow.

Pretty fascinating stuff. They even had electricity down there.

Saw They Live for the very first time recently. Fucking phenomenal. That 6 minute straight fight scene was too damn funny. I can see why South Park paid tribute to it. Great movie, half freaked me out, half super 80's cheese...therefore perfect.

i used to watch movies all the time and i need to start again. the last movie i saw was super 8. i thought it was great...it was made like a movie you would see in the 80's. not a shitload of special effects and an actual good story.

Friends with Benefits (2011)

Justin Timberlake was likable as always. And seeing Mila Kunis in a normal girlfriend capacity, having sex a whole lot, was fantastic. I want her to be my girlfriend.

20/10

Horrible Bosses (2011)

Horrible Movie.

1/10

Comedian (2002)

75% about Jerry Seinfeld returning to standup in small clubs to create a new act of all new material, and 25% about some asshole named Orny Adams who was still suffering in small clubs trying to get his big break but failing because he was a miserable prick. Average at best. It's hard to feel bad for Jerry when he talks about how hard comedy is 5 minutes before leaving in his Porche 911 or being flown somewhere on a private jet. And it's hard to feel bad for Orny because he's just a fucking asshole.

6/10

American: The Bill Hicks Story (2009)

I had seen it before, but after seeing Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedian", which was ok, I felt I needed to see something from a true comedic genius.

9/10

2012 (2009)

If the world really ends like that, I will piss my pants and die of a heart attack long before I am sucked into the earth and then swept away by a 4000 foot tidal wave.

7/10

I was pretty sure we'd resurrected the xiola movie thread, and lo and behold, I found it:

it is...one of my favorite books too. I've heard they are waiting for the guys to grow uglier for their reprising roles in Porno. That one is a really funny sequel book, should make an awesome movie

yeah i've heard that too. renton has a weird/less central role in the sequel. It's more about a girl named nikki, but really it's about sick boy.

yeah, I still hope Kelly McDonald gets on board if they ever make it, even if Ewan doesn't. What a fucker, I would've never thought he would refuse being in it.

YES.

Just watched this last week. Joseph Gordon Levitt is dynamite in anything he's in.

Just saw The Thing last night. It was waaaaay better than I expected. I'm on a John Carpenter kick right now. Will probably go see the prequel coming out this month (even though he has nothing to do with this one). :thumb:

A Serbian Film (The Uncut version - 2010)

Without question the darkest, sickest, most twisted shit I have ever seen in a film, and that's a milestone. All of the controversy this movie generated at film festivals the world over and in critical reviews was well-warranted. The movie is slow to start, but eventually sucks you in like a fever dream until you realize it's too late to turn back. The final 15 minutes is some of the most fucked-up shit you will ever see in a movie.

But beneath its (dark) surface, this is a game-changer in the thriller/suspense genre, and has officially replaced "Martrys (2008)" as the most disturbing movie I've ever seen of its kind.

10/10.

Last night I saw Limitless (uncut). Entertaining movie, nothing really special.

I also saw its alternate ending... fuck damn it sucked!

The Thing along with "The Fly" are probably my favorite 80's monster/horror flicks from that decade.

The '82 version? That's my favourite film of all time.

And Trainspotting is in my Top 10 films too. Did anyone who read the book not find it quite difficult? My wife's Scottish so I guess I'm used to the swearing :hehe: It is also one of the most quotable films of all time.
