I played sweeper and I was terrible but I was good at doing what was asked of a sweeper or basically being a cheap scumbag.

As for the other I played a lot on the beach and stuff like that and I was usually a WR or CB, all that surfing helped me with running and focusing. I was home schooled most of my life so I never got a chance to be on other teams or anything.

wr and some corner in pads from age 9 through high school till i blew the same knee for the second time hasn't the biggest but i had hands, wheels and heart


glad i don't have kids..it would be hard to make up my mind to let em play or not..it's not good for kids to play football imho i blew knees, took concuccions, bruised my spleen, broke my nose, broke my hand and a lot of fingers (the reason tape was invented) and thats just the bigger injuries lol... loved every minute of it though...even the rehab back from my knees...if it was up to me i would do it all over again in a hot second..but if i was a parent knowing what i know..i might make em wait till at least high school age..much like kids pitching a baseball at a young age is a horrid idea

I just had this discussion Sunday with an old buddy of mine. Neither of us played football and neither of us are inclined to let our boys play.

I just don't see the risk v. reward making much sense?

I don't like to think that I would end up in a position of actually forbidding him, and as he LOVES baseball (just had his 3rd birthday party at the kid's ball park at AT &T Park where he practically played himself in to heat exhaustion) I hope it's not an issue...

I think baseball and soccer, add in lots of music lessons and boy scouts, and that should be enough to keep him busy until he's out of my house.

I remember my mom would freak out and not let me play football. She thought I'd hurt myself too bad. But basketball was ok for me to play. Ironically, I got fucked up a few times from that. I caught an elbow once and had to stitch my nostril back together. Had a neck issue once, still have a weird shoulder ache, multiple sprained ankles and jammed fingers. So that worked out well....

People are transferring in and out and I just stand there on the field sucking wind LOL that part sucked.

Yeah, I was big for a safety. Too slow though, fast enough to be a pulling guard though. Played special teams too. I played from 3rd grade until I finished high school, so I played just about everywere except QB at one point or another. Finished up @ guard, because I put on 30 lbs (growth spurt) my junior year. That was the most fun I had out of any of the positions.

my positions were defensive tack, offensive guard and punter and I only played in high school. never played growing up, but the high school football coach convinced me to play. one of the other lineman on my team ended up making it to the nfl for 3 seasons. he was 6'6" and 300 pounds. big dude...

I now play Center and Safety in the Godfathers (flag football team).
