I thought you would quote it and throw that in there and I just saw it on Sportscenter. I think it should be good hopefully they on both sides realize what was at stake and how stupid they both look.

Well in Cleveland it went like this:

Mike Brown: Ok, so we're going to...
Lebron James: SHUT UP MIKE! Everyone just give me the ball and follow my lead.

So in Los Angeles it will probably go like this:

Mike Brown: Ok, so we're going to...
Kobe Bryant: SHUT UP MIKE! Everyone just give me the ball and follow my lead.

Yeah I had a feeling it might be like that especially since Mike hasn't won anything and Kobe has 5 rings. But on the bright side maybe they will be better defensively as those Cavs teams had a good defense. Sucks how Lebron left and it sucks that Gilbert didn't have the stones to stand up to Lebron. Kobe tried a power play before the 2007-2008 season but Dr Buss told him to shut up and color.

Yeah well it leaves the player Orlando wants for their center as well. One more trade and dynasty mode will be back on. 26 y/o Paul, 26 y/o Howard + Kobe and whomever else =

But we just improved our back court tremendously with this trade and rumor is we can try to get Turiaf for the bench, always liked him coming off the bench and his energy. Would have been nice to end up with Ariza back too though.

oops...that was supposed to say NOT SURE. i like gasol as a player and it's tough giving up two big guys.

i hope it fails miserably for the lakers.

I'm going to try to get tickets opening night...12/26 kings vs lakers

Yeah just saw that because the owners of other teams got pissy.... small markets need to understand they will never ever no matter the system have the money to compete with the LA and NYC markets because of the TV deals.

Also Paul is only going to resign with Lakers or the Knicks so the Hornets have to trade him to one of those teams because any other team is going to trade for him for nothing.

Hornets are owned by the leauge.

Small markets are essential to this leauge, so unless Paul, Griffin, Howard, and anyone else I want go to the Celtics this is a very prudent move. :tiphat:

well Paul isn't going to show up to training camp and is filing a grievance against the league since there was collusion according to his agent.

I get small markets but those owners have to understand the players have a choice of where they want to sign extensions so any team that trades for Paul has to know he has let it be known he will only extend with the Lakes or the Knicks.

So the league owned Hornets are going to let him walk for nothing is what it looks like if they don't approve the trade to one of the teams that he will actually resign with, or another owner will cripple their own team giving up a lot for a player that will walk away from their team for nothing.

http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/20 ... 5-billion/

The league can tax the shit out of the Lakers and before the games are played it will be worth it.

No way in hell the Lakers can get both. Impossible. Or nearly.
L.A. LAKERS

The Trade: Chris Paul, Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor for Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom, Steve Blake and Derrick Caracter.

Additional Notes: I'm not sure the Hornets would keep Odom here — they could spin him to, say, the Clippers (for Aminu and Ryan Gomes) or Minnesota (for Michael Beasley and Anthony Randolph).

The Verdict: As a full-fledged Lakers hater, this one sends chills down my spine. The Hornets save $7 million this season, rebuild around Bynum (good luck with that) and dump the last three years of their Okafor/Ariza deals ($62.7 million). The Lakers get a true center back (Okafor, an underrated double-double guy who can protect the rim), a defensive swingman who knows how to play with Kobe (Ariza), and one of the biggest point guard upgrades in basketball history (going from Steve Blake and Derek Fisher to Chris Paul). They're reinventing their team AND making it better. Yikes.

If I'm The Lakers, Here's My Biggest Concern: We can't get Howard AND Paul. Is getting Paul a better course than getting Howard? My answer: Yes. Getting Howard requires a Bynum/Gasol package; getting Paul means you keep Gasol, which means you'd have three of the best 15 players in basketball (Kobe, Gasol, Paul) and some competent rotation guys (Okafor, Ariza, Fisher, Metta World Peace and Free Agent X). That's a no-brainer in my mind. I'd have a better chance of winning with Kobe, Gasol, Paul, Okafor and Ariza than Kobe, Howard, Odom and Turkoglu — not just this season, but the next two after that.

If I'm The Hornets, Here's My Biggest Concern: Do I really want to rebuild my entire team around Andrew Bynum, someone who missed an extraordinary number of games already, might be headed for more knee problems down the road, and seems to have the emotional maturity of a Real World roommate? Am I the only one who remembers him clotheslining little J.J. Barea last spring, then storming off half-naked? That's going to be my signature guy for the rest of the decade? Really?

He's right. I really think Paul is going for Westbrook anyways.

Yeah and then what happens when Paul doesn't resign with OKC? He has told his agent there are only two teams he will resign with.

Honestly I think the Hornets will trade him and he will sign with the Knicks if the trade to the Lakers doesn't happen, but Howard will come to Lakerland just send them Gasol and Bynum and there were go.

Knicks are probably signing Chandler, so they don't have a bunch of money.

And I called it Chris Paul is going to sue the league for collusion, the other owners got all pissy and Stern blocked it. Yahoo sports has obtained copies of emails that owners sent to Stern to block the trade. Phil Jackson called this happening last year when the league bought the team. This should be interesting. Especially since Paul is suing because he can not go to the Lakers. But he has been told its on "hold"...

The Hornets would have got Dragic, Odom and Scola and then draft picks, they're not going to get a better deal than that because Paul WANTS to go to LA, all his agent has to do it let it be known that he will not sign with any team that trades for him..

Oh well hopefully Mitch has some other tricks lined up because without a trade this team as constructed will probably just get crushed like they did last season as they got a year older and not any better.

That email is exactly what I mean though, news flash Gilbert no one wants to play in most of these small markets the only one that does a good job of getting talent and KEEPING talent is the Spurs because they run shit the correct way instead of just catering to someone's every wish. The other owners need to realize that they have to spend money if they want to have a championship caliber team and then they can possibly get a good TV deal.

And the revenue sharing? Lakers are going to make at least 200 MILL a YEAR from the TV deal they signed. So let them make the trade and make them keep Odom and throw someone else in so they have to pay the luxery tax. The bottom line of Gilbert's email is envy of the money... nothing about the so called competitive balance they were lip servicing.

ya shutting down the trade is best for the hornets so they get nothing when paul leaves them at the end of the 66 game season...they would have stock piled talent with this trade...it's just cav hate for big market teams that they will never be....nobody wants to go to fucking cleveland look at the nfl...hell if the owners were smart they would have put in a franchise tag to keep players like this but noooooooooooooooo

If you're a Laker fan I don't see how this looks like a good trade? Paul is is still not what he was before he got hurt, even though he's a great PG I don't think he's a long term guy. Gasol and Odom? There goes all your size. Who else is left to get Howard? I think its a bad move. If you're the Hornets, it's probably the best they'll get for him. If I were them, I would ideally want Curry, but that's not going to happen.

Edit: Howard wants to go to the Nets? WTF?
