Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
2005-2006 36 games missed recovering from surgery remember he was recovering from surgery when Jimmy boy drafted him
2006-2007 82 games played w00t
2007-2008 47 games missed in the regular season as well as another 21 in the playoffs
2008-2009 32 games missed due to injury
2009-2010 17 games missed due to injury
2010-2011 28 games missed due to injury
492-160 reg season games = 332
So basically in 6 seasons counting the ONE out of 6 seasons he played a full season he has still missed 33% of his games to injury/recovering from injury.
Where as Orlando would be trading a player that rarely misses a game for a player that never misses a game. Lakers are not getting Howard. No chance in hell it happens unless they offer both Bynum and Gasol for him.
Creep -- they got swept, the team as constructed as Magic Johnson stated needed to be blown up because they will not win another title with this core and Dr Buss will not continue to pay luxury taxes if they're not going to at least make it to the finals. But since they can not pry Howard away from Orlando more than likely then they need to trade for Paul so that way Dr Buss has a star to market while they try to rebuild and shed 40 million in payroll in the process.

Looks like the Howard to NJ might have hit a snaffu and NJ is going to have to give up a lot, plus if they allow this trade to happen then they have to allow the Paul trade to happen because it would allow one large market team to acquire a player while another is not allowed to even though they're giving up two of the top 30 players in the league in the trade.

Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
Well fuck, now we have Fisher starting again and no shot at Paul. Have emo Pau / Odom now. Those two will probably have shit seasons. Oh well hopefully Kobe's knee holds up for a couple more rodeos because Stern has decided he doesn't want the Lakers to be good after the Kobe era is over.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
Pau's gonna kill it. Space Cadet Odum....
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
Pau's got a new coach (Jackson treated him like the dishtowels) and major incentive.....and Shannon's gone.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
Yeah Magic was right they needed to blow up this team they reached their peak last season and got punked in the playoffs. Yeah they won two titles but basically they have to understand they don't get to have their huge paydays and not win titles 2nd round of the playoffs with that payroll is unacceptable.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
the same three teams are talking again. i bet this deal gets done so david stern can get some credibility back.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
Yeah they're going to have to let it go thru, this trade was the Lakers giving up 2 of the top 30 players in the league for Chris Paul.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
fuck, I knew deep down it would happen. But, fuck. End of an era.

That is so sad but it says what I have been saying for years their training staff sucks they have lost so many players to knee injuries.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
here is what us small market teams are doing.
1) resigned marcus thorton. great move ..might have been the best player on the kings the last month of the season. 4yr 31 million
2) signed chuck hayes. 4yrs 21 million

just read this. your team has the worst luck.Breaking: Blazers determine center Greg Oden has suffered setback, and restructure his one-year deal for a lesser amount
did the guy get injured walking from his car to the first day of training camp?
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
I know Sac is small market but those fans are always there supporting the team the only reason there's a problem there is like I said before terrible ownership. They need to run their organization in the SAS / OKC model and they would have no problem competing. But the Maloofs are trying to offset their life styles on their NBA team instead of fixing the real problem which was their shit in Vegas.creep wrote:here is what us small market teams are doing.

well for the most part the vegas deal is over. they hardy own much of the palms anymore. they can concentrate on the team and the new arena.Juana wrote: I know Sac is small market but those fans are always there supporting the team the only reason there's a problem there is like I said before terrible ownership. Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
I mean obviously I respect the Kings and their fan base but the Maloofs fucked up in Vegas and were trying to offset that and then tried to move the team when they just need to actually pony up and put some players out there. Make a trade or two and actually spend the 85% of the cap that the CBA requires. Cousins, Evans, Thorton all good and then Hayes is a good role player, if they can get Bedo out there on the block they can bring in some role players and really build on that.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
we also picked up jj hickson who pretty much averages a double double every night and drafted jimmer for some much needed outside shooting. added john salmons too.Juana wrote:I mean obviously I respect the Kings and their fan base but the Maloofs fucked up in Vegas and were trying to offset that and then tried to move the team when they just need to actually pony up and put some players out there. the kings are far from a championship team but i really think a playoff team this year. i'm not drinking the hoka coolaid i really think so. cousins and evans are only getting better.
a pretty reliable source says that a big trade involving the kings is coming tomorrow.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
Well Bedo is a wanted player around the league so I figure he would be involved in a trade and I forgot about Salmons that is another scoring wing that will help them. With Hickson and Cousins they have a good 4 and 5 so they should be good not great or anything as they're still young but like I said that market always supported their team.
Milwaukee, NOLA, Charlotte, Toronto... those markets were not supporting their teams and a lot of that isn't because of money its because ownership has shitty organization if the foundation is there to build a team then players will go there regardless of market, the problem is a lot of them are not in it for the championship and a lot of superstar players are and if ownership doesn't surround them with players to compete they want to go to a team where someone will.

I like this signing if the Trade goes thru and we keep Gasol I think a core of Paul/Kobe/Gasol would be pretty good depending on if we can pull off a sign and trade for David West or something like that

Oh fuck me. This has to be the worst day in Blazer history.
This morning,
Brandon Roy retires,
LaMarcus Aldridge Misses Camp, Out 1-2 Weeks After Procedure On Heart, wft?!?!?!?
Blazers Sign Greg Oden To One-Year Deal After "Setback" Leaves Them "Less Confident" Of 2011-2012 Return.

Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
Odom to the Mavs for draft picks, I think that means Superman pt 2 = coming to Lakerland
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
great a bunch of bigs and no pg once again sigh...plus we are being forced to trade odom because of the stern bullshit we should have had cp3 and dh...fucking bullshit
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
you still could have him but the lakers backed out of the second deal.kv wrote:great a bunch of bigs and no pg once again sigh...plus we are being forced to trade odom because of the stern bullshit we should have had cp3 and dh...fucking bullshit
instead they decide to give a quality big man to the team that swept them in the conference finals.
Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
Someone explain to me why James and Bosh were allowed to go to the Heat, but this Chris Paul guy wasn't allowed to go to the Lakers.
I don't really understand why one team is allowed to have 3 All-stars, but David Stern can prevent other teams from attempting the same thing.

Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
because the nba bought the hornets (which should have never been allowed) so the other owners and stern have a say so in what the team does.Six7Six7 wrote:Someone explain to me why James and Bosh were allowed to go to the Heat, but this Chris Paul guy wasn't allowed to go to the Lakers.

Re: NBA 2011/12(?)
well dude they waited all fucking day for an answer and never got one it's like the league was dragging their feet so we couldn't get howard and paul at a certain point have to say fuck it and try and get one of them been trying since thursday for paulcreep wrote:you still could have him but the lakers backed out of the second deal.kv wrote:great a bunch of bigs and no pg once again sigh...plus we are being forced to trade odom because of the stern bullshit we should have had cp3 and dh...fucking bullshit

it really is a bunch of fuckig bullsit when you have owners like gilbert talking out of their ass we should have fucking sued
i liked getting paul alot more then howard hell we have bigs bigs got us swept...ya howard is great and all but if we trade odom pau and bynum for him we are still gonna be fucked hardcore...the odom trade was mainly for their big trade exception the mavs got when they traded chandler yesterday ( so they aren't getting stronger, they swapped chandler for odom)
gilberts letter in case someone didn't catch this bullshit
“Commissioner,
It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.
This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.
Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.
I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).
I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.
I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….
Dan G.”
basicly the league doesn't want us to get under the cap because then they lose the fine money fucking joke
EDIT THE SECOND TRADE OFFER WAS ALSO REJECTED BY THE LEAGUE SO THE LAKERS SAID FUCK YOU AND PULLED OUT OF TRADE TALKS SUE THE FUCK OUT OF THEM THIS IS SO FUCKING WRONG
