But, I'm not ready for the responsibility that comes with starting a thread of that nature.

Besides, what if I started a thread and nobody posted?!

:scared:

Yeah, I thought Brewers/Tigers would have been the most fun out of the playoff teams but probably would have made the league and network folks kill themselves.

I don't want the Rangers to win because I think it will just reinforce the jackasses who insist the Giants "just got lucky last year." :eyes:

Also, a number of commentators have called St. Louis "this year's Giants." :noclue:

I'm a Mets fan, so come October I haven't really got a lot to say about baseball. Next year. And by next year I mean 2013.

dont really understand that comparison.. Cards have been kicking ass for 10 plus years, the Giants run last year came outta nowhere..

There's no way Texas wins this series

They are only comparing how the Cards got incredibly hot down the stretch run and overtook a team that choked (Atlanta) to make the playoffs where they made an improbable run to the World Series. :noclue:

Part of me still hates the Cardinals for '87.

I kinda care, but not like I used to. Something broke mentally for me when the Cardinals moved to the new stadium, and the excuses for a rag tag team of cast offs started coming in. Now they have a pretty good lineup but for years it was retread central hoping they could get life out of some tired out player. I honestly care way more about hockey. If you go to Blues games, Joe Buck will be there in his seats when the Cards are playing. I always laugh at that.

Too many games in baseball. Plus, living around here (Mass) its tough to get into it when the team, organization and a lot of the fans are such smug pricks.

The problem with baseball now... too many teams, too many games, longer playoffs...the talent is spread too thin and it is me or do the games run a lot longer than years ago? Expansion has kinda killed it for me...I DO like the interleague play though...and yeah I used to follow the Mets as well and by the time July rolls around the season is done for us...

That's funny. My brother will only allow me to say negative things about St. Louis sports teams to him. Every time I start predicting something great they fall on their face. I predicted the Cards would get swept by the Phillies to make him happy. I hadn't opened my mouth since until last night.

Sorry Hoka, but I could never stand it back in the days when the Cardinals came to town...they would always be tough for the Mets to beat especially in the Vince Coleman, Ozzie Smith days...

But I do hope you guys win it!

People in St. Louis would lose their minds over you saying that. He's really beloved here.

But - My best friend played A or AA ball and knows a lot of the local guys. His family and the Van Slykes are real close. He has nothing but terrible things to say about Pujols as a person.

I've met him a few times and he's a pretty cool guy. His wife Elaine, in addition to being a noted animal lover, is a huge metal head. Pretty much any big metal or rock show will bring her out and we take care of her and whoever tags along. Sometimes in the off season Tony comes along and looks out of place, but he's friendly and tells folks he's just there for her, like a dutiful husband.
