Looks like at least one more U2 show when they play a week's worth of dates next May.

Yeah, I read that. I think it's too soon for another tour. I mean, how much more of the fans' money can these guys take, eh?!Pandemonium wrote:Looks like at least one more U2 show when they play a week's worth of dates next May.

I don't think they have too many big tours left in them and I wouldn't be surprised if they go dormant for about 4-5 years after next year's tour and wrap their career up with a final farewell/greatest hits type tour in 2023.Artemis wrote:Yeah, I read that. I'm a bit pissed that they're making fan club members re-up their annual subscription months early in many cases (including mine) to be able to participate in the pre-sale. Plus, a member can't carry over unused pre-sale codes from this year's tour. They're also using the "Fan Verified System" which means you have to link your Ticketmaster account with them as well as giving out a cell number so they can text you your pre-sale code which is really a way to harvest personal data.
Re: Live shows in your agenda?
That sounds like a reasonable prediction.Pandemonium wrote:I don't think they have too many big tours left in them and I wouldn't be surprised if they go dormant for about 4-5 years after next year's tour and wrap their career up with a final farewell/greatest hits type tour in 2023.Artemis wrote:Yeah, I read that. i guess they're getting in as much touring as possible before the health problems start kicking in for the band members.

Start? They're already here ;)Artemis wrote: i guess they're getting in as much touring as possible before the health problems start kicking in for the band members.
Just picked up tickets to see Typhoon in early Feb. next year
Re: Live shows in your agenda?
Yes, you're correct. I forgot about Bono's recent health issues. I think I read that the inspiration for the latest album is about those health problems.tvrec wrote:Start? Re: Live shows in your agenda?

White Lighter for me is one of the best albums ever made.
Re: Live shows in your agenda?
Indeed, it's a brilliant "concept" record -- and I am a sucker for those. The new record is coming out at the beginning of next year, and I'm holding out for something equally essential. The first "movement" of the new record is streaming now:Larry B. wrote: White Lighter for me is one of the best albums ever made.

Re: Live shows in your agenda?
Jeff Tweedy at Largo (LA), end of December. Should be Greeeat.
Re: Live shows in your agenda?
Love Largo since the old days....owner is a fairly good pal (you may know him as well), and a really good guy....fierce protector of music and it's integrity. At the old place, you were removed if you interrupted the musicians in any way. He's a good player himself. Jon Brion, Colin Hay, and Fiona Apple are frequents there. Enjoy!
Re: Live shows in your agenda?
Don't know the owner, but I share your opinion on Largo. I used to go a lot when it was over by Canter's. I like what the Coronet has been doing but I have not been as much and though I like the space I don't find it quite as cozy as the original location.SR wrote:Love Largo since the old days....owner is a fairly good pal (you may know him as well), and a really good guy!
Re: Live shows in your agenda?
No it isn't...stadium seating, etc. There is a small room just to the right as you enter the patio where Flanny brought some tables and part of the original bar where there is a microscopic stage (maybe the old Largo stage )for private parties that's nice. I have never been in it except to "tour" it with him...never to see a performance. At the old place, way back I went quite frequently as well. I spent quite a few drunk nights there...One was the year Spacey won the Oscar for whatever movie he beat Tim Roth for in Rob Roy (years ago )....probably Usual Suspects...anyways, I thought TR was an amazing villain and actor in this flick and that Spacey was one dimensional and Roth got robbed etc ...anyways, Spacey leans over my friends shoulder and stares right at me and tilts his head. Probably saved myself a fierce package grab....my friend too.
Re: Live shows in your agenda?
Finally this year they will stream the Corona Capital music festival. I assume they will show the principal acts.
Here's the line up for this weekend (Sábado= Saturday, Domingo= Sunday) and the YT channel.

Re: Live shows in your agenda?
2017 was an excellent concert year for me, saw over 20 shows. So far for 2018, I have 5 shows booked:
Valerie June (saw her last year for the first time- she is amazing!)
Bananarama (all original members! first time ever playing in Toronto)
OMD (last time OMD rolled into town the drummer had a heart attack on stage and the show was cut short)
The Strypes
Rod Stewart (bucket list, never seen him before)

Re: Live shows in your agenda?
The last couple of years have been pretty lean for me as well. I only saw Poptone and U2, both last May and blew off seeing The Misfits reunion at the LA Forum on 12/30 even though I could get pit tickets right up to the day of the show. There's just not much left out there that really makes me want to see more shows, especially big ol' arena gigs. I do want to see Savages again if they tour in 2018, and I'd like to see Wolf Alice and maybe Rival Sons at least once but at this point, 2018 looks as lean as the last few years. After 40 years, I think I'm getting near the end of my concert going days.creep wrote:

Re: Live shows in your agenda?
I don’t even look for arena shows anymore. I seek gems at small venues that pop up periodically like questlove and Saul Williams at echoplex last week.
