Great Van Fleet tonight!
I was on the fence about going but then checked the event page to see who was selling and managed to find a ticket for $60(hard copy ticket). I will be rocking solo, but that is okay.

A youtube from the Friday night show.

The tickets for the Toronto shows sold out really quickly too. The first show sold out in about 5 minutes and then a second show was added, which sold out as well. I kept checking the event page and the TicketBastard resales but prices never dropped below $73. The original tickets were $46 with the svc charges. On the day of the show I found one for $60 and met up with the guy at the venue.

I got inside just before 9pm and the place was packed all the way to the back! The capacity of the venue is about 2500-3000(I think). Apparently, people had been lined up for hours to get in early to snag a good spot. I kept moving around to find a spot where I could see but way too many tall people and body-to-body closeness, where you could feel people literally breathing down your neck.. Anyway, band came on at 9:15 and blew me away! These young guys are really fucking good live- believe the hype! The musicianship is way beyond their years and experience of performing live. Plus, their confidence and ease of performing is really impressive. The lead singer, Josh, has a very powerful, strong voice that sounds even better live, with surprising range. I think the drummer-not a brother- is going to be one of the next great drummers.

Overall, excellent show. The band played about a dozen songs. The sound in the venue was really good, band had amazing stage presence and interaction with the crowd. Speaking of the crowd, it was people of all ages, leaning on the younger side, but strong older rocker presence too. I had a really great time. The vibe and feel was definitely nostalgic, but who cares! The band and the crowd were rocking! At heart, I am classic rock chick and love all the 60s and 70s blusey rock music of that time. If these young guys help to revive that style, I am all for it!

A couple of pics, not very good, too far back to get a decent shot.

Saw two EXCELLENT concerts this week- St Vincent & David Byrne.

If either of them is coming to your town, don't miss them!

A few vids(not mine) from last night's David Byrne show.

From Remain in Light...

From Speaking in Tongues...

From new album, American Utopia

My next show is Aug 11- Lynard Skynard,, 38 SPECIAL & ZZ TOP. (free tickets, why not? )

Found a couple for St Vincent. IMO, I think she's one of the best guitar players right now. Not only can she shred, but she also has impressive vocal range. Her live band is really solid.

This is when I'll finally get to see St. Vincent. I've been wanting to see her for a few years now but each time she has been near me other things have gotten in the way.

 You will not be disappointed! Florence should be pretty good too.

In case you're reading this, St Vincent is about to play Lolla on Channel 1 at 7:40CT

Off to see Maiden tomorrow. Every year I always go on impulse saying that this is the last time they'll tour blah blah. Stage set (and set list) looks great though.

Bush is one band I have always disliked. Maybe it's that guys voice? I don't know but when their songs come on when I am listening to Lithium I get really annoyed.

Maybe it's because you know how annoying it is trying to get people to come down off their clouds when they don't want to. :drink:

I always thought they ripped off Jane's a little bit with that one line from the song everything zen, no sex in your violence.

As with many bands, at this point it's just the singer and some hired guns because the singer didn't think he could sell any tickets under his own name. And, as with many bands, he's right.

With that said, I was in high school when those first two Bush albums came out. They fit right in with everything else I was listening to at the time. And as much as we all look back now at certain bands as riding the grunge wave made by others, I still have a fondness for many of those songs.

I've never seen Bush. Or The Cult. So I am super stoked on this show. Especially given my known enjoyment of STP to cap it all off. (Before anyone asks: I think the new singer is fucking fantastic and I am 100% on board. Already saw them live with Jeff once and it was better than a lot of the shows I saw with Weiland. I guess being sober helps one actually hit the correct notes and not just slur through the song)

Riotfest has a solid line-up. I'm surprised Jerry Lee Lewis is still performing.

Some are for real, and some are because tickets were cheap or free. I'm sure you can mostly guess which is which.

I also have tickets for various cover bands, but didn't include those

I will go to almost any live show, within reason.

No rap, country, or punk.

But everything else is fair game. Even if I don't like someone (like Train), but my friend has an extra ticket, I'll say yes and go with them.

It doesn't suck to sit on the lawn of an amphitheater in the summer having a drink and listening to live music under the stars.

If the Heart/Joan Jett show is a freebie, Joan still rocks! I saw her last summer and was plesantly surprised. She looks and sounds fantistic for a 60 year old chick. Heart, I saw in 1980 when I was 13! It was the summer between grade 7 and 8!( :oldtimer: ) They were one of the bands opening for The Who. It was my first real concert after Shaun Cassidy and first stadium show. Also on the bill was the J. Geils Band and Nash the Slash.

I saw IAMX a couple of years ago...excellent!
