Some are for real, and some are because tickets were cheap or free. I'm sure you can mostly guess which is which.

I also have tickets for various cover bands, but didn't include those

I will go to almost any live show, within reason.

No rap, country, or punk.

But everything else is fair game. Even if I don't like someone (like Train), but my friend has an extra ticket, I'll say yes and go with them.

It doesn't suck to sit on the lawn of an amphitheater in the summer having a drink and listening to live music under the stars.

If the Heart/Joan Jett show is a freebie, Joan still rocks! I saw her last summer and was plesantly surprised. She looks and sounds fantistic for a 60 year old chick. Heart, I saw in 1980 when I was 13! It was the summer between grade 7 and 8!( :oldtimer: ) They were one of the bands opening for The Who. It was my first real concert after Shaun Cassidy and first stadium show. Also on the bill was the J. Geils Band and Nash the Slash.

I saw IAMX a couple of years ago...excellent!

No I am paying for Heart and Joan Jett. Because it's Heart and Joan Jett

Sometimes you just gotta go see people before they die. They are legends. Both of them.

I will only know about 7 or 8 songs between the two, but that's ok. I respect both.

My current group of friends that still see live music go to events that I have no interest in. One group goes to the big arena rock shows and the other goes to country concerts. I guess that is why I don't really see live music much anymore. :noclue:

That's why I stopped caring what my friends liked when I was a kid...don't blame their taste for your laziness!

I just go to stuff by myself sometimes.

I don't need to be social to see live music. In fact more often than not, it annoys me that people are talking when I am trying to see someone play.

No sense missing out just because no one else is interested. Grab a drink, find a good spot, and enjoy.

Bingo

That was my 20's.. my close friends hated the music I liked and I felt the same way...after missing a few shows because nobody wanted to go I started clubing by myself which just lead to new friends who I shared musical tastes with...plus 10000x easier to get a single ticket or to sneak in...pretty sure panda works/worked the same way

These days I do. Up until the tail end of the 90's my best friend and I saw probably 90% of every show I've caught since '77 together. He got me into a lot of bands in the late 70's/early 80's and I got him into a lot of alt and punk stuff in the mid-80's through the 90's. He moved up north to Santa Rosa and I think the last show we caught together was when I flew up there to see the late '97 Janes/Enit show in San Francisco.

My wife was pretty game to see some shows with me the first 5 or so years we dated and eventually married but they were pretty mainstream, "safe" stuff like U2, The Rolling Stones, Springsteen and oddly, Concrete Blonde. I think the last show she went with me was U2 in 2005 and I had to buy $275 each seats because she doesn't like to deal with standing only floor GA (she's short).

For a few years, it was kind of unthinkable going to a show by myself as the social aspect of hanging with friend(s) was as fun and important as seeing whoever the band was. Most of my other friends aren't live music fans and don't go to shows at all. But as KV says, after a while there's bands you want to see no matter what and I quickly acclimated not just going by myself but preferring going solo to avoid the sometimes hassles of dealing with friends who'd been better off staying home and of course, the ease of scoring a single ticket or at least not fronting money to buy a pair.

they still exist, huh, didn't know that. Great news. Kiddin....

I wish Fiona Apple would tour a lot AND come to Europe and stuff. But she seems completely uninterested. I wonder why.

I too was surprised that the Crash Test Dummies still exist. I was never really a fan. The lead singer's voice has hed up well, still sounds the same. The show was a little boring for me, I was ready to go after the thirs song.

It's been pretty quiet on the concert front for me. I spent my concert money on Raptors tickets. About 2 weeks ago or so, I saw Beck with Cage the Elephant, Spoon and Sunflower Bean. All the bands were great!

Coming up:Fontaines D.C. in September
Ladytron- October
Orville Peck- December
