I grabbed all of the xiola smileys at some point. Want them uploaded somewhere so u can download them and then add them to the palette?

tonight i will work on the smilies. by the way this is 100% hoka's site to design. i will only tweak the board to fix stuff. the design is all his.

I think I collected most of the ones that were ever used, although someone mentioned the bouncing boobs smiley, and I don't think I found that one. I also didn't collect the Jane's ones (aside from Nothing's Shocking) because I was too lazy and they had pretty much fallen out of use. I still kind of like the Pete one, partly because it actually looks like Pete.

I'd like to see most of the xiola smilies back, so I'd definitely like to see what you've got, in case I missed a few. On the other hand, I think we should ditch the bigger, clunky ones that nobody ever, EVER used, like the long one that spelled out "noobie" through some ten-minute animated process. Nobody ever used those things.

To echo what ant said in another thread, I think we should ditch the Etty smiley:

It just seems to set the absolute opposite tone that we seem to be going for. I realize what it's meant to symbolize (beating a dead horse by talking about Etty too much) but in the end it means that there's ALWAYS a picture of Etty there any time you write something, and the picture is of Etty being beaten with what looks like a club or a 2x4.

It seems that the old dead horse smiley would be a lot better.

This smiley takes up a ridiculous amount of space:

But it's hilarious. I guess we should keep it, at least until sonny's self-immolation is at least a bit further in the rear view mirror.

Maybe we should replace it with the old boxing image, but I could go either way. I just think they should fit on one page, as they did on xiola, instead of the more inconvenient 3-page thing on ja.org.

These things are weird-looking and should be replaced with their classic xiola versions:

You could say these are just smileys, but they're all we use to show our expressions and illustrate the tone of our words. Plus the classics just make you feel at home. The confused smiley with the funny eyes (another I couldn't find) almost seems like it IS hype's face.

yeah i agree about the Etty one. it is a bit in poor taste.. or could be construed that way.. though personally i do find it just that little bit amusing.. erm i mean, no i don't ...
