Mustard:Yay or Nay?

#1 Post by Artemis » Tue Nov 03, 2015 8:24 pm

Just wondering if the ANR peeps like mustard. If so, what kind of mustard do you like?

(Truth is this is Secret Santa related. I am trying to ascertain if my person likes mustard. Hopefully he or she will see this poll.

Personally, I love mustard. My day to day choice is Dijon or grainy mustard.

Yes! Ketchup on EVERYTHING!

fries, hash, grilled cheese (though, find Amy's Tomato Soup to be a better compliment to really soak it), burritos (bean and cheese only), actually I think it is less stuff now...... :hs:

Oh sorry wrong thread....

I hate mustard. I'll reluctantly eat it if it turns out it's on something I ordered, but I'd never voluntarily want to eat anything with it, the only exception I can think of being in deviled eggs.

Nay for me! I can't stand it. And here in Edinburgh, apparently 80% of all sandwiches or hamburgers are bathed in mustard before reaching your table. It's almost as if they want to eat meat but they don't really know how to make meat flavoursome, so they just go "well, let's put mustard on it I guess."

I love mustard. Dijon or Colemans English mustard has a great nasal kick, similar to Wasabi.

I love mustard with all meat, particularly sausages or steak.

Slightly off topic, but I order from this store too. If anyone is a chilli/mustard head or loves good flavours check it out.

There are some really great flavours here, and not just stupidly hot sauces either. They also do nuts, rubs and sauces for wings and loads of other good shizzle.

That's exactly how I am with mustard. I really don't like the taste.

pretzels, salads, those grain cookies or just eat it by itself :noclue:
Also mustard is healthier than mayonnaise (and more tasty if you ask me, I HATE mayo)

I like mustard with all cold cuts, on burgers, pork products. I also use to make salad dressing/vinaigrette, marinades, glazes. Sauces for smoked fish using capers and dill. I also use mustard mixed with a little mayo for tuna sandwiches and egg salad sandwiches.

Romeo, I often buy beef knishes from a deli(Yitz's) near my place. Never thought to put mustard on it! I will try that next time. :tiphat:

I almost forgot to mention...I like peanut butter and mustard sandwiches. I know sounds gross, but it is seriously good. You can also add bacon, or tofu for the vegetarians.

I've never had a meat knish! :yikes:
I'm mostly a potato knish girl, and square only. I've had sweet potato and spinach knishes but never with beef. It sounds interesting!

Here's a funny fact. Only ONE company in the world makes square knishes. They sort of invented them, more like they invented the machine to make them.

Image

Well they had a fire, the fire didn't damage the square knish machine but shut down the factory. And so began the "square knish shortage of 2013/14" it lasted 5 months. The struggle was real.
Gabila's is made right here on Long Island!

The Yitz's ones are rectangular in shape, filled with spiced meat and potato. Apparently, the beef knish is a popular Toronto thing. I don't know about delis in other cities.

People that understand the demise of a once-great band and are (mostly) down with mustard and knishes? I'm crushing hard.
As a Member of the Tribe, give me a potato pie and some Ba-Tampte mustard and I'm in nirvana.

Anyone else graduate from Poupon U? http://mustardmuseum.com/poupon-u/ (yes, there really is a mustard museum!)

Ba-Tampte Garlic pickles RULE!!!! You can't get the garlic in many places outside of the tri-state area. Down in No VA my niece found them in her local Giant that got a case by accident (they carry the half sour) and literally bought all of them.

Mustard on potato Knishes are the ONLY way to eat them!
