Aside from fat Axl and Slash looking a bit bored I thought it sounded pretty tight. Axl's voice surprised me, we'll see if it devolves as the weeks go by. I'm not a fan of Guns N' Roses, but based on this clip alone I wouldn't mind going to see them.
It looked like a fun show and the reviews I've read on other forums seem to be mostly positive but there also seems to be the expected downsides with this thing, that is not the complete original line-up (no Steven Adler, no Izzy), the band has the drummer, 2nd guitarist and longtime keyboard player Dizzy Reed left over from the last few incarnations as well as a new 2nd female keyboard player. Axl isn't the same frontman he was in their prime, his voice sounded like it started to go by the encore and I guess he fell off a monitor and landed on his ass the 2nd song. I expect the upcoming tour to be the same thing Axl has been doing with his own version of GnR the past 15 years which holds little interest for me.
It's such bullshit. It's obvious that Slash and Duff are still Axl's bitches. Shame on them. I guess money talks...it's too bad that Axl and a bunch of goons drew more money than Slash, Duff, and the late Weiland (though I was never really a Weiland fan). Slash and Duff are like Dave and Perk...and obviously, Axl is Perry in the equation.
If there had been any justice in the GNR history books, it would've been that Slash and Duff sold out arenas with whatever band they came up with while Axl was playing small venues or opening for Poison. Unfortunately, the masses are more into brand names than anything else.
GNR was never a one man show, so to speak...they weren't Nirvana.
I'd honestly rather watch this on repeat than go see "Guns 'N' Roses"...
Is anybody watching the Coachella webcast tonight? I assume they are the "special performance" after midnight. I might not stay up since it would be after 2 am for me.
I'll leave you the link if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHF66a ... l6VkSrS3cQ
Holy shit, it's been confirmed Axl will be fronting not only the remaining US shows with AC/DC but the European shows as well starting at the beginning of May. At Coachella tonight, Angus just joined Guns n Roses for "Whole Lotta Rosie" and "Riff Raff." The topper is the official statement by AC/DC basically kisses off Brian Johnson with a "good luck with your future."
This is right up at the top of weirdest turns in rock music history.
I stayed up late for nothing. Here's Coachella show's complete setlist:
It’s So Easy
Mr. Brownstone
Chinese Democracy
Welcome to the Jungle
Double Talkin’ Jive
Estranged
Live and Let Die (Wings cover)
Rocket Queen
You Could Be Mine
Attitude (Misfits cover) (with “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory” intro)
This I Love
Coma
Speak Softly Love (Love Theme From The Godfather)
Sweet Child O’ Mine
Better
Civil War
Whole Lotta Rosie (AC/DC cover) (with Angus Young)
Riff Raff (AC/DC cover) (with Angus Young)
Wish You Were Here (Jam) (Pink Floyd cover)
November Rain
Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door
Nightrain
Encore:
Patience
The Seeker (The Who cover)
Paradise City
Its honestly not bad and it seems Axl sings better when he's off his feet. The real barometer is going to be if Axl can pull off any of the Brian Johnson era songs which imo, are harder for a singer. The whole idea Axl fronting AC/DC is still hard to wrap my head around.

Sitting down he's not exerting energy on dance/stage moves =all his breath is going for singing.
I'm sure Axl knows that many of the AC/DC fans are not too chuffed about him replacing Brian Johnson. He will have to do a helluva a job to win them over.
Axl looks like Matt Sorum when he was still in GnR.
And Axl gets Slash to play songs from Chinese Democracy and to play Rhythm guitar. I mean Angus and Slash could have shared solo duties on those AC DC tunes.
