Interesting factoid on Dark Matter tonight

#1 Post by JOEinPHX » Wed Dec 13, 2017 11:40 pm

Perry is the reason they played a step and a half down when Eric came back. He had been singing lower in Satellite Party and thought that's all he could do.

They went to just a step down when Duff was in the band.

Then when Chaney came back, before rehearsal one day, Dan Cleary just decided that he thought Perry could sing in standard and tuned all the instruments back to normal without consulting anyone. They've been back there ever since because they all thought it sounded better.

I did listen and someone brought music up and they said he just sent a text to someone about making music and then talked about mending fences and shit like that and that people would be surprised. I think that is what was said. Six7 can probably explain it better. I was guessing working with eric...not on jane's music. :noclue:

I just listened to it as well. Seems like he's scrapped the solo stuff (which fuckin sucks) in favor of this new thing with Avery probably like you say. Not good news in my book, I mean better than no new music from Dave of course but I'd much rather have an album that's 100% made by Dave. And this new thing isn't gonna happen either probably. I thought Dave was all about integrity these days, wtf is goin' on. If you're not gonna do a solo album, don't announce one...let alone two!

On another note: Pretty cute version of Ocean size, talented girl

He's been recording but he said last night he decided to take it in a different direction, including someone else.

Who that someone is, we don't know. :noclue:

He decided to collaborate with his favourite creative partner from the past: Christina Aguilera.

It's his imaginary friend from age 4 to 49.....coco, or the ghost of David Cassidy with the remake to Come on Get Happy

I just watched the palladium show, they're still a half step down, which is kinda annoying. Regardless, Im intrigued by a potential Navarro/Avery collaboration... maybe perk can help out too.

I don’t know what dave is talking about. They never went back to standard tuning.

1. Dan, not Dave

2. Yes they did. The guy who tunes the instruments said so.

Dan/Dave, whatever. It’s been a half step down since after NINJA. Pull up any video since 2010, get a guitar in standard tuning out and compare. And if you really disagree with me, then find a performance and post it (spoiler: you won’t be able to do this).

I enjoyed Todd’s daughter singing ocean size too, she was really good.

I’d be way more excited about hearing Eric and Dave make music together than a new DN solo record though

Dave doesn't seem to be an uptalker anymore by the way, very glad to hear that.

I went back and watched this recent Palladium Show and the Kaaboo festival from September. Half step down. Just like every show from 2010 on. LMAO at Dan claiming they have been in standard :lolol:

What they said was:

NME show with Eric - 1 1/2 steps down
NINJA - 1 step down
Duff- standard tuning
Now - 1/2 step down

It sounded like it may have been during rehearsals???

I'm clueless when it comes to tuning stuff. I can't tell a difference.

Here...what is this if you can tell? All I can tell is the tempo sucks.

I went to that Madrid show. It was much colder than I expected; I had to buy an overpriced cypress hill hoodie which I still wear and embarrasses my wife.

More likely Chad Smith. RHCP are on hiatus, except for a SF charity show this weekend, and Chad has been doing some studio work, so the timing makes sense.

Duff's bass sound was not a good fit.

I forgot he was ever in this stupid band.

Do we remember why he quit?
