NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
Hollywood Palladium in LA, multiple nights in Dec, gonna be insane...
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
After seeing some classic NIN shows, and then seeing them at Ninja and With Teeth tour, I was done. We were clearly only moving downwards. And every album just seems progressively worse. I'm stunned sometimes that this Trent is the same Trent that made those first three albums.

Yeah, my phone blew up with this. Great venues...props to them for this tour.

Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
The two shows I saw in LA for the "Wave Goodbye" tour in late 2009 were incredible. The Palladium show, they played Downward Spiral front to back and the final show at the Wiltern a week later was a nearly 40 song set. I do agree NIN hasn't put out out anything that compares with their 90's run (and I haven't bothered to see them since '09) but the recent batch of EP's have been decent and pairing with JAMC on this tour looks promising, at the very least it's likely Trent to do a few tunes with them in some capacity if past tours with Bowie, Bauhaus, etc are any indication. And the LA shows are at the Palladium which seems to bring out the best in bands and LA audiences.Hokahey wrote:After seeing some classic NIN shows, and then seeing them at Ninja and With Teeth tour, I was done. No seats brings energy. And the LA shows are at the Palladium which seems to bring out the best in bands and LA audiences.

Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
I echo the sentiment about studio output in recent years - or, since The Fragile, to be frank. But the band he puts together always delivers, and I expect nothing less this time around.
For a long time, nin had been good at mixing up the set lists and keeping shows fresh, but that started to suffer with the increasingly complicated production. I get that something like the 'Lights in the Sky' didn't leave a lot of room for plentiful set changes, but I'm hopeful that smaller venues means a more stripped down show. This will be the first non-arena tour they've done in the US since the final shows of Wave Goodbye in 2009. About fucking time. This should be good...and if it's not, he needs to give up.

If this tour comes my way, I'm going! JAMC were amazing when I saw them a couple of years ago.
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
+ 1, hoping for a Denmark date around the 14th of December
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
New song...
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
is that the worst song he's ever done, let's do a poll
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
I hear hints of Lazarus on meth
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
right, he's ripping off Bowie.... not close to being as cool and elegant as Bowie's stuff though, weird move
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
Agreed, but even so it's the only endearing part of the song, which I don't like

Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
Last time I saw NIN was in like 2012, I paid 100 fucking dollars, and half the show Robin Finck was playing a tiny little toy piano or a fucking xylophone.
You don't have a guitarist like that and just not have him play guitar. I walked out after an hour of boring bullshit that wasn't Nine Inch Nails.
Every album he has done since then has been garbage, and this new song is crap too.
Stick a fork in Trent, he's done.

The Bowie thieving is pretty bad on this tune. Reznor's been copping 80's new wave/synth bands more and more the last few albums. There's a few songs from the last few years, especially on Hesitation Marks that are just as bad as this one including "Came Back Haunted" and "Everything."creep wrote:I haven't heard every song but that is one of the worst I have heardMatz wrote:is that the worst song he's ever done, let's do a poll
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
Simply because his vocals are not the whole "with-a teeth-a" thing, I like it better than anything I've heard from him in a long time. It's a little busy, but overall I like it ok. I just wish he'd pulled the plug on the NIN name after the Fragile.

Zzzzzzzzzzz. I guess that’s what happens when you’re no longer poor, angry and unknown.

Oh... Jesus and Mary Chain has to be one of the most boring bands I have seen live. Hopefully they have worked on their stage presence.

They were always too “wall of noise for me”. All the goths I used to hang with in the 90s fucking loved them for some reason.creep wrote:Oh... Jesus and Mary Chain has to be one of the most boring bands I have seen live. Hopefully they have worked on their stage presence.
Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
I never really liked them. The only reason I saw them was because they played Lollapalooza.nausearockpig wrote:They were always too “wall of noise for me”. Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
yeah, something like that, happens to most of them though, look at the Chili Peppers, Jane's, Billy Corgan etc. Talent fades....

Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour
I agree their virtually cardboard cutouts on stage but I love that wall of sound feedback nails-on-chalkboard guitar sound they have on a lot of songs.nausearockpig wrote:They were always too “wall of noise for me”.
