Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
I've never seen one Marvel film ever. Am I missing out? I used to love the comics as a kid.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
I was underemployed a few years back so I watched all the marvel movies in "chronological" order (the order the stories took place, not the order they came out).
No, you are not.
first season of daredevil (also punisher) on netflix wasn't too bad though.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
Some of these movies are cool to see how the superhero came to be, but after that I lose interest.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
The Marvel universe has taken over Hollywood so now whether you're an up and coming actor or a veteran household name, if you want work you better try and be a part of it.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
I thought Deadpool was a fantastic comedy. It’s also R-rated, which works well for the movie. That would be the one I’d recommend if you don’t watch superhero movies.
Logan was a good drama as well. X-Men, but I’m guessing it still counts.

Ah, I did watch Deadpool on the plane once. Loved it, only one I've seen.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
I remember seeing Jon Favreau on the Kimmel show about ten years ago talking about how he was in the process of making an Iron Man movie. I kinda laughed to myself and thought,
no one knows who Iron Man is anyway who would want to see that? I sure was wrong.

Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
i watched scarface for the first time last night. i have no idea why i haven't seen it before. pachino is great in it of course but other than that there is some really bad acting in it but i guess that is to be expected from a movie so old. decent movie.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
Serpico's is great if youre on an Al Pacino kick. Carlito's Way is another good one.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
Saw Booksmart over the weekend and really enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty funny, but I tend to be easily amused, so not sure if you lot will find it funny. Great soundtrack too!
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
I usually like movies like this but I only made it half way through. I really wanted to like it.

When Scarface was first released, everyone at my job were big coke heads (partly because we worked the graveyard shift) and this instantly became everyone's favorite movie. I can't say how quickly the oft-repeated "Say hello to my little friend" quote grew to nails-on-chalkboard annoying.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
I watched Only the Brave last night. I don't want to spoil the entire movie but it doesn't have a happy ending .This movie did horrible at the theaters but it's really good.
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
Happy birthday to one of the greatest actresses of all time...gone with the wind, robin hood, bunch of errol flynn movies. Happy 103 today Olivia de Havilland
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
That's another film I've never seen....In fact, here are a few more random ones I've never seen but I keep getting told are good.Pandemonium wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 11:27 amWhen Scarface was first released, everyone at my job were big coke heads (partly because we worked the graveyard shift) and this instantly became everyone's favorite movie. Forrest Gump
The Matrix
Any of the Bourne films
Stand By Me
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
Yeah, correct. They're all pretty good imo
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
Out of those movies Bandit, you gotta watch The Matrix
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
I saw Forrest Gump at the movie theatre when it came out and hated it! From what I recall,Forrest is a really lucky, mentally challenged, naive and inncocent man who goes through life experiencing incredible moments in American history. Maybe it was supposed to be like a fairy tale about the American Dream:conform, stick with the rules, don't rock the boat and you'll be a huge success. It was a feel-good movie full of nostalgia for the baby boomers. Just thinking about it now makes me angry On the positive side, excellent soundtrack and good techincal qualities.

I’m not sure it’s aged well, though. It was breathtaking when it came out, but since then Bandit has probably seen all the movie’s new tropes being played out elsewhere, as well as dozens of satirical takes on the movie.
From that list, I’d go with Forest Gump or the Matrix. Forest Gump has its moments if the story manages to grab
you. I only enjoyed it on my 3rd attempt at watching it.

Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
This is a good movie if you haven't seen it
Re: Movies or "the breakdown of jasper"
Over the weekend, I saw the movie Midsommar by Ari Aster- loved it! It has a strong Wicker Man vibe.
The reviews have been mixed. I think because this is not a typical horror movie. I thought it was really well done; I left feeling a little unsettled and disturbed.
The director is the guy who did Hereditary which I haven't seen.
