Chris Chaney again. Per Dave’s Instagram, they rehearsed yesterday. Maybe they’re gearing up to tour with the newly reunited RHCP?

In the back of my mind I'm thinking maybe just maybe they have a couple of Hard Chargers left in them. Then the reality of it being more like Snakes Have Many Hips/Curiosity Kills sets in.

I will be going.

Everybody's dying. Last time I saw those fuckers was 2012 I think, and I enjoyed myself enough.

Though it will never be what it was, it is better than nothing... and Kind Heaven.

In the caption he said it was taken on 1/22/20

He posted a pic of them meeting up in December so the wheels seem to be turning

Perk probably needs to make his mortgage payments.

Expect 5-6 summer festivals for big paydays, and little else.

you honestly think he has any input whatsoever in what the band does? i don't blame him for being on board with every tour though. easy money. etty probably has more say.

I can easily predict a Perry interview for their 2020 return:

"at 61, I feel younger than ever"....
"This year is going to be unique, i mean, 2020, and 20 years after jubilee, it's an astrological sign"....
"Our tour is gonna be a new fresh formula, will disrupt the concept of live shows, ...."

More like "I have this great new concept for a virus video where EDM ravers take a road trip to see their favorite band... Jane's Addiction! And there are these hot Asian babes doing a flashmob strip tease onstage during the performance. It's going to get a lot of views on MTV, so we're putting out a greatest hits CD at Sam Goody to strike while the demand is hot!"

I would happily go see them your with RHCP. That's about the only worthwhile circumstance I can think of. Just because of the history between the two bands.

I'd be inclined to check it out more because I keep passing on seeing the Chili Peppers every time they tour. Maybe Janes and The Cult, Bauhaus or Killing Joke on some sort of co-headline theater venue tour would be ok. But Janes Y2K+ headlining even a club doing the same old 12 songs and all-new pew pew keyboard bullshit, that'sa hard pass. I recently caught that Ritual ReDux show on AXS or whatever music channel it was on for the first time and was floored how shockingly lame the whole affair seemed.

Why?

What do you think you're going to see that will be worthwhile?

This is an honest question and not me just being my usual grumpy self.

Are you super looking forward to hearing Dani California? A whisper quiet version of Whores with PEW PEW PEW?

Some bands just stop being worth their ticket price. If they are going to play the same setlist as 8 years ago and play it worse than they did then, why are you going? For the reminder to not buy tickets again till 4 years from now when you'll say "ok, well, maybe this one last time" AGAIN?

Motley Crue, Poison, and Def Leppard just ripped off a million people who think they are going to relive their glory days in the 80s by going to this show for an evening where all they are going to see is strained vocals, fat old men, and 17 dollar beers they will complain about. Right before they say "Well it wasn't 89, but I guess I'm glad I went one last time"

There's old bands worth seeing. These aren't those.

Yep, totally agree with above post, nail on the head etc....

Name me one old band/artist that is still worth checking?

I've seen Iggy Pop who gave more on stage than all the young bands I saw that day combined, and maybe Metallica still put on a good show (but I wouldn't pay to see them individually). Other than that ....

Pixies were amazing both times I've seen them in the last 5 years. And their new music is excellent.

And so on...

There is virtually nothing that would get me to attend another JA show. I had the chance to go for free the last time they came to Chile, and I didn’t go.

Same goes for the RHCP. I couldn’t care if it’s their last world tour.

But I would most definitely go to see Faith No More again, despite having seen them already 4 or 5 times. They were incredible each time.
