It's true in the Chicago suburbs. The whole neighborhood will put up a fight when you try adding a fence. It's kind of an eyesore. Dogs just roam around everywhere doing their business 3 or 4 houses down, it definitely created some tension. I had the invisible/underground fence that shocked the dog when they got too close.creep wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 5:18 amHype wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 3:23 amhttps://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2933 ... 8036_zpid/ ! 3 bed, 3 bath, nearly 3,000 sq. ft, for 415k.
The one thing I hate about houses in the Midwest is that no one has a fence around their house. Do you just let your dog run loose?Do your neighbors stare at you while you barbecue in your backyard? Out west every home with a normal lot has a fence around it.
PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN

Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
As far as caring about people staring at you, that just sounds like paranoia
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
We're pretty private in the West. People keep to their own business for the most part. Without fences we would feel like we were having a BBQ in YOUR yard, and that's why you would stare.
It was funny when I moved out to NYC for the first time (first time east of the Mississippi River for me) and I would switch my car from one side of the street to the other in East Harlem, a whole host of people (neighbors....? : ) would come out and critique my parking job.
At first it really pissed me off, but then I realized it wasn't me, it's just what they did. Then I liked them.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
It sounds like you lived a lot of places
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
I mean Chicago does have some cool architecture
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
Jane's played here back when they meant something
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
That's an understatement!
Love Chicago architecture and history.
Not so much the food...
You guys have to mound cheese on everything.
Now I do love cheese, but it seems to be a volume thing with you guys, like what you do to a hot dog....
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
And more than FLW and individual buildings the overall stature of your urban vistas is amazing.
Unmatched, except of course by NYC.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
The Merchandise Mart. Art deco 1930's very "Chicago". This came 40 years after the Wainwright Building. Actually Sullivan had his office in Chicago.
The Waightwright was the "first" skyscraper with this form. Built in 1890, the first steel frame terra cotta facade, open layout. The mother of art deco skyscrapers that you see all over Chicago.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
I've never been in these buildings, I guess its parking until you get to that one level
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
What's the history on this slanty eyed bastard?
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
That roof was meant to be a landing pad for Daley back in the day. The contract got pulled for the union steelworkers halfway through the job, so they quit. They only had budget to finish one side so they made it into a diamond shape.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
That's interesting
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
Don't tell anybody that though.
It's complete bunk.
It's complete bunk.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
Not really worried about mortgage rates but what I am worried about are property taxes out here with a lot of people moving here. Don't mind the growth and they're nothing like the house I was left in CA but fuck a 150% increase in 2 years is insane to me.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
Wow. Just locked 2.50% APR for a 30 yr fixed refinance. Knocked off about a percent and a half!
Too bad I don't owe more on the mortgage....
I was lazy this summer and never got around to refinancing. Procrastination pays off....

Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
And you must be paying points on that, and/or getting raped on fees. PM me if you want an honest review.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
These were the quotes I could choose from. I actually picked the 2.625% over the 2.5%. It costed out over time about the same, but just liked the lower cost for the rate. The 2.750% was an extra +$4,000 over the course of the loan, so that didn't make sense.2.500%
1% Cost for the rate =$1,480
$585 Principal & Interest portion of payment
2.625%
.50% Cost for the rate = $740
$594 Principal & Interest portion of payment
2.750%
.125 Credit back towards the closing costs = -$185
$604 Principal & Interest portion of payment
It's a Credit Union I am moving my money to as well, so even if I could get the $740 knocked down somewhere else, I'm good with it.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
A few months ago i refinanced @ 2.75 for a total cost of $995 (no 3rd party fees). might be a little lower now but i'm fine with that.
Re: PSA - Mortgage Rates are DOWN
If I did 2.75%, it would have been $365 total with all closing costs + fees (get money back!)
Rates are crazy low right now....
