I'll take 4 partial ideas over an extended little bit in Pigs in Zen or whatever that was in 2009. I kept clicking on that video the other day thinking the audio would work, haha.
I did too. I was frantically trying to figure out why I was only getting feedback.
Hopefully they'll have something to release before the tour starts. It would be amazing to have 1-2 new Eric songs in the set list.

That sentence is so wild to me- can’t believe how real a possibility it is that we’ll hear new tunes live with Eric

Just bought Philly tix. Jesus - there were not a lot available. I paid a lot for good floor seats but it will be fucking worth it
Last time I saw Jane's with Eric was Camden NJ 2009 in the pit. Thought that was gonna be a once in a lifetime thing. So stoked I get to see them again, and presumably playing in a more flattering tuning.

Yeah I'm kind of bummed I bought shitty (cheap) seats now. I didn't think I would really care about the show that much.

Where are you for the show in St. Louis? I'm front row of the balcony (old man style). Actually been to enough Blues games to know those are killer seats. Denver I'm on the floor wherever my buddy bought tickets. Maybe I'll end up at some more if there's new songs and OG energy.

309, Row J.
If I'd known Eric would be there I'd probably have gotten floor. Although, they are seats and not GA, which I don't love.

Yeah, I wasn't wild about seats on the floor, so I was like ok front row of upper deck. Nobody in front of me, legroom, and a rail to set shit on. Denver I'm along for the ride since I was asked to visit.
I don't think it has fully set in that we could possibly hear new Jane's Addiction music with Eric in about 2 months. I went back and listened to that Pigs in Zen jam from 2009, definitely has some promise. JA vibes but modernized which is what I think we can reasonably expect unless there's somehow songs left in the tank from the original era (Tornado Song?

would be cool if they recorded or at least played live erics version of kettle and suffer some .. plus slow divers in the acoustic live set would be pretty sweet .. if they opened with iris

I'm really excited. I created a WhatsApp group to talk about Jane's. I just wanted to share it here, in case someone is interested to join.
No BS allowed, just so I don't flood the forum with that many messages.
Feel free to join, and I hope this isn't considered as spam (just let me know and I'll take the message down):

Speculation - Maybe Dave is contributing his parts remotely and Josh is playing them with the other guys.
As for Dave’s physique, I’m pretty sure it took a lot of work for him to be that shredded in the past and he’s no spring chicken anymore. I don’t think he cares as much now, he’s stopped dying his hair too. He’s a naturally thin guy but I think he eats healthily and he mentioned a while back that he only dies yoga now, no weights. Well, quite a lot of shagging too, probably.

Dave is definitely still in but if Josh did do it, he would be the only guy to play in Jane’s, RHCP and Pearl Jam which is badass.
Interestingly enough he did this back in May

This will end as it always does...badly...
Noooo, this time they'll create the follow-up to RDLH! Positive vibes man!!!
Good to see you back!
I was kinda thinking Martyn might be stepping back in on bass...
Martyn wrote something on Eric's Insta about Josh K lettin the cat out of the bag. I know Josh is close to Martyn and Eric but I wonder if he'll be involved at all? There was a comment about him setting up a guitar stack? I didn't understand!
Thank you...I'm working on a letter to Perry...it starts out "dear Perry, please don't do to Porno for Pyros what you did to Jane's Addiction...and now that Eric is back can you send Etty away for a few months? All the good stuff Rollins said about you in the Kettle Whistle liner notes is no longer true...
On a serious note, they have us looking crazier than Perry's new teeth out here...30 odd years after the breakup hoping for just a glimpse of the old magic...if history has showed us anything its that they were truly lightning in a bottle & those days can't be recaptured. I hope it goes at least reasonably well...I am only going to pay attention because of Avery's involvement, but where some of you guys see some hope I see a hammer, nails and a coffin with the lyrics to Jane Says written on it. :(

I don't think any of us are expecting the second coming of ritual de lo habitual. I think there's just the same little bit of excitement that we will get some reasonably credible performances along the lines of what we saw from porno for pyros.

Bottom line for me is that I’m excited for new songs
I just remember looking at pics of them writing with Duff back in 2010 and was like “man I wish Eric was there”
I saw a headline the other day that read “Eric Avery Confirms Promising New Song Ideas for Janes Addiction” and I had to reread it a few times over because it’s still so wild to me that this is happening. It feels fucking great and even though it’s only been a week I need more content haha

I have to say I'm with ES on this.
Didn't want to comment and rain on everyone's parade here ... But I don't expect much from this. I don't think Perry's up to the task anymore.
I remember Josh Homme saying something about Kyuss. He said that it happened during that moment in the past, and the moment is gone, so no point in reviving Kyuss.
But hey: I do hope they prove me wrong

I'm intrigued about what they might be able to produce, although I imagine some good live shows is probably the best we can expect. Hopefully they play in the original tuning, given how good Perry sounded with P4P at Lolla.
In terms of new music, I don't think we can realistically expect any more than 2-3 good new songs from any new P4P/Jane's LPs. That said, Perry hasn't written new material with Eric since the late '80s, so is it possible they could write something interesting together? Maybe. Same goes for Perry and Pete but it seems very unlikely. How many groups re-capture their early form some 20-30 years later?! I can't think of one.
The possibility is still exciting though...

I don’t need new tunes that “match” NS/Ritual. I just want material that adds meaningfully to the legacy. I don’t think that’s an impossible task by any means.

I really think it depends on how humble and open Perry is to Eric's ideas. Is Perry ok w/ Eric saying to him - we/you can do better? Jane's deserves more than writing Another Soulmate and slapping a Jane's sticker on it.
Eric knows to his core what Jane's should sound like and be.

Panda, always trying to sneak Killing Joke into the mix. They must be the real deal.
